discussion Czech resin CA-15? anyone worked with it?

I have found a kit for this aircraft, Commonwealth CA-15 deigned here in Oz only two built and then scrapped. A Mustang on steroids. Anyone on this site worked with this kit? What are the pitfalls of resin kits? Never even seen one. Cheers, Bill

hi bill, ive never done a resin kit but ive read that they have to be stuck together with superglue,also a lot of the smaller parts have to be cut off the pouring blocks with a razor saw,bearing in mind that resin dust is very hazardous to your health a mask is recommended.Apart from that they seem to be ok ,with some of the more unusual subjects covered that the mainstream manufacturers wouldnt do ,due to the smaller numbers theyd sell. good luck with the kit ,post us some piccies when its done , id certainly like to see what one looks like,sounds interesting. cheers from a wet ,grey england , tony

First of all, allow me to welcome you to the forum, we're glad to have you here

Unfortunately I cant help ya with the czech Kangaroo model, however, I know that any model of the kangaroo is kind of hard to come by. I dont know if you have ever heard of "card models" before, but they are constructed of nothing but paper cardstock and glue. You print them out on your computer, cut out the parts and assemble following the instructions and after a little while, you have a 3D model of whatever the subject is....in this case, a CA-15 Kangaroo. Now these arent your "cereal box cut out" models, Alot of the cardmodels I own are "Highly realistic" and designed using state of the art programs to ease in the assembly (the assembly of some of these models can take 100's of hours.....this one is not that bad though). Some of the completed models look so much like a plastic model that you cant tell the difference until you pick it up and hold it, friends are amazed when they find out they are made of nothing but paper.

While you are at "Kanchos" website, you might look around abit, you may find other free aircraft models that may interest you too....anything from pby catalina's and F2-H3 Banshees as well as nakijima torpedo bombers from wwII (these models can be found by clicking on "take my old models for free" at the top of the above link).

If there are any other subjects that might interest you, and you think you might like to give a "card model" a try, let me know and i can probably find a free download of whatever the subject is.... (I mainly know where to find aircraft cardmodels, but there are models of all types of subjects from autos, tanks, ships, helicopters, rockets, missiles etc).

Anyway, I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and let you know about the art of card modelling. if you have any questions just post em here and i will try to answer them for ya.

Well, GEEDUBBYA, I knew you wasn't the real McCoy when I saw you were from Arkansas, and not Texas. But that's another story, I am from CA and came to Oz in 2001. Thanks for your welcome message, much appreciated. I went to the link, but could not find a CA-15. Paper looks pretty interesting. I must admit I would never have thunk to build a paper plane using these techniques. I started building wood way back in the 50's with a neighbor who was into wire control in those days. When he moved away I started plastic cars, then planes. Even built a wood cabin cruiser when I was about 15. They CA-15 just interested me since I have been visiting air museums her in Oz.
