Certainly not in Jersey Polux.

Am I missing something what do the stars represent. I know some medals had Africa Star, Pacific Star etc.

I think the stars are habitual with all the Euro coins, all them has twelve stars.

Anyway is strange you don't have a similar "initiative" on England.
 
I haven't seen anything which means it's a commemorative coin for Europe well probably , but to be honest we don't get that sort of enthusiasm in Britain as the liberals don't like it which is a shame

No coins Polux but there is a set of stamps issued by the UK Post Office.

Forgot to mention. In front of our block of flats in jersey a poppy field was sown and we have had poppies for the last 10 weeks. They have also built a couple of representative bunkers out of sandbags. In the middle of the poppies stand three crosses.

As an added extra we have four rabbits plus a kit running around eating the poppies all with white fluffy tails. Knowing what poppies are used for in certain places the rabbits look rather happy.

And another Jersey initiative. WW1 stamps issue. 4 designs all with poppies on them.

Two of the designs include seeds sealed behind a thin, transparent, bio-degradable plastic cover.

Half of the £1.50 cost for the two stamps will be donated to the Jersey branch of the Royal British Legion.

Sow the poppies in Jersey, reap the opium later and make the Afghan poppy fields redundant. Stroke of genius.

What and ditch the Jersey Royal Potatoes. No way Joe. Best potato in the world. Not tasted a Jersey Royal they make a meal in themselves.

But as a matter of interest there has been talk of Vodka a la Jersais. Spare spuds.

SWMBO would agree with you and I too am very partial to a nice Jersey spud!

More seriously those stamps are beautiful. I particularly like the one with just a poppy on it.

Yes they are very nice. The Jersey Philatelic Bureau produce some very cracking colourful sets.

Even better was Pauline's use of the poppy seeds which came with the stamps.

Even better the poppies sown in the ground below our flats. They sowed poppy with a wild mixture of flowers which were just something else. Blues yellows reds. I looked out every morning as the flowers multiplied and thought of Flanders fields. It was a rotten war, what is not, with so many of Britain's young men lost and so many families devastated. Then to have to do it again with so many in the again part who gave most of their all in the first.

We walked through out town this morning and remarked how lovely it was. The population is very cosmopolitan with many not only from Europe but from all of the continents of the world. All enjoying themselves, families, old people, children and we chatted to many it is such a happy place. Just a buzz of happiness. I just cannot believe all that goes on around the world when happiness for all should be so easily to achieve.

Gone on a bit there.
