This one is now done, destined for the shelf of completion, Lol...
There is no proper back story, as such, to this one TBH. I just built the British x6 wheeler ATMP and I knew that I wanted to put it in a dio as soon as I started it, and as it was finished in the desert/sand scheme, I decided it needed to go into a desert/arid type diorama.
And, as I also had the Scorpion in the stash, and it was also available in the desert/sand scheme, it seemed appropriate to put them both in the same dio.
They were both used in the British army at the same time, my limited research says that the x6 wheeler was in service from 1988 until 2010 and the Scorpion from 1973 until 1994, so there was an overlap. They both served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
So I suppose we can set our own scene....
This could be some pre-arranged meeting point, or it could be a designated resupply area, or they have just stopped in preparation for a brew up. Or they could be resupplying some comrades, or lost and trying to radio HQ for co-ordinates, or the Scorpion is protecting the x6 wheeler and its crew, or they could be laying up waiting for further orders, or maybe they are waiting to liaise with some other unit. Who knows?
Here are the final pics, enjoy.....
