DH88 Comet..... Airfix 1/72

Yeah, maybe Airfix should've just bit the bullet and fully retired this beast years ago. Still, you can get all the liveries in their recent-ish releases, if you don't go straight to the Clear Prop jobs

Hmm, the scheme of a squadron hack, or a runabout from Hatfield. You just know some AVM would 'acquire' one of these just to gadabout. Or BOAC ,like the Mosquitos for the Stockholm runs.
So, if the militarised Rapide become the Dominie, what's the 'official' RAF name for the Comet?

I'm NOT over-thinking this!

I thought about the Stockholm ball bearing runs but the comet is too small to carry any worthwhile form of payload but I come up with something similarly sneaky beaky operation

I've thought of a name too :ROFLMAO: . ..... Did you know Dominie is a Scottish word for teacher?...... De Havilland problem is they had so many products but didn't stick to one theme for names which makes it a little harder so I've thought laterally

I AM over thinking it :ROFLMAO:

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I don't know what you guys are on about...Airfix has produced classic vintage aircraft with the same moldings that I remember were the best in that era. Obviously it won't be the same standard as today and I wouldn't change it as it is nostalgic. Unfortunately they should have labelled or warned it as kits that you remembered in the bygone years and perhaps produced a separate new range with new tooling and label it as such.
Maybe categorise them like their series perhaps like Iron age, Bronze age and Modern age.😋

BTW Paul, your build looks great although I would have preferred it in its original racing scheme. I'd like to tackle this some day just like the old Defiant...that's another one that needed a ton of putty and reshaping.
C'mon admit it...you liked the challenge it gave you right?

Cheers,

Yes and no :ROFLMAO:

I love bashing nadgery old kits into some kind of shape, it's part of the fun but this was really bad...... Needed excessive filler and lots of sanding, so much just didn't fit!

I know what you mean like they must have had two technicians working on each half of the mold making process and nothing lines up. You are definitely brave.(y)
