Hi, i would like to know how to make a Diorame for my models, i'm not wanting to go into full detail, just the gouund undernieth the aircraft.

I have ideas about how to do it, but i don't know what the best way is. I saw this Model in Cosford museum:

All i want to do is make the ground underneith the aircraft, & prabably a section of grass, like the E-3 model, but i need to know what the best materials to use would be, & where i can get hold of them, & what a tutoral would come under, as i don't know what to call it, to me it's just the ground under the aircraft...

any piece of mdf or ply would be fine,as for the painting just look at afew pics of planes and study the concrete underneath .the grass is just coloured flock,which you can get from any model railway supplier or even games workshop (but its more expensive there)If you're just doing a basic base then thats all you really need,Ive not done many myself! If you want to really go to town on it then the railway modellers are the ones with all the know-how:beer: cheers tony

hi len,me again heres one of mine with a base.I had to put it on a base cause i forgot the nose weight(doh!!) this was just a small piece of mdf painted with halfords primer then the joints in the concrete were drawn on with a permanent cd pen then the whole thing rubbed slightly with wet and dry to scuff it up a bit.Then i just stuck a bit of the flock on the corner,added the number and a few black tyre skids and a landing light.Pretty quick and easy really(quicker to remember the nose weight,then i wouldnt have had to make the base!!!!)so i suppose its just a case of making it a bit larger to suit whatever plane youre doing.Hope this is of some use cheers tony

An easy and cheap way to make a grass effect is bicarbonate of soda and superglue painted green (mainly short grass unless you build up slowly).

Yeah, thanks for the help, I'm going to have a go at a base after i've painted my model, i'll let you know how it goes.
