Hi all just like to get this off my chest as it is bugging the living daylight out of me, some of you will remember that i had paid £455.00 for the 1/35 dora railgun more than a year ago and my local shop were told by the import company that it would be here at the end of the year. Well taht changed two months ago to the end of January..... so my local shop called the import company, who are still advertising it in there catalogues by the way and the shop was told that they can get me one but it will have to be when they are being sent out and that they would have to receive more than one order to be able to import them. This has really p****d me right off as i have had to save up for this for a while and i had it paid for , for a year before the import company decide to tell me this. Why then are they still advertising it in the catalogues as available then, i feel that this is very misleading and surely a breach in trading standards? However i have given up the ghost on the Dora and have a credit at my local shop for £455.00, that is the good in all of this, however i was really looking forward to having this kit to build, so a warnig to any of you who are thinking about ordering one... get a deffinate delivery date, if they can't or more to the point won't my suggestion is don't bother.

Sorry to hear you never managed to get the Dora Scott. Yours is an unfortunate but not unique tale, I've had similar stuff happen to me ; just before Christmas I ordered a Trumpeter E-100 Jagdpanzer that never turned up because the shop never had it in the 1st place!

It's very annoying & frustrating so don't think you're alone in this sort of thing, just think about all the lovely stuff you're gonna make with the £455 shop credit!

that is a shame scott. on the bright side you could clear half the stock from the local model shop.if it the same shop as my local model shop, it took me nearly an hour to spend £100 vouchers i got for christmas so better make a day of it lol. could the be a large van parked in oxton road birkenhead some time soon......

PS Sorry to hear of your bad news Scott. Can't you get a cash refund from your shop and source one elsewhere? I would have thought that the shop is legally obliged to return your money as you haven't received your goods.

I reckon dave is right, if someone had taken £455 of my money and not come up with the goods after a year i'd be livid and demand my cash back. Surely its your statutory right? I know its the overseas suppliers and not the local guys fault but apart from anything else , this bloke has had YOUR money in HIS bank ,earning interest for a year !! Go in with all guns blazing mate and demand your hard earned cash back and a free kit to compensate for the interest and inconvenience!!! Hope you get it sorted mate , cheers tony

I know credit sounds lovely for a model shop but in this case and for a large amount that it is, I'd tell them I want the cash back.

Hi Scott, I'm with everyone else, you should be demanding your money back. As good as it would be to have £455 store credit, it would be better to have the cash to spend whereever you want it. Plus I'm sure its your statutory right to have your money back.

If they refuse to refund you ,contact Trading Standards institute.Their web site gives advice and has a help line number you can call.

If you're happy with the credit scenario then thats fine .... but if you're being taken for a ride then depending (or not) on whether you signed any "pre-order forms" that state differently in the small print then the shop is obliged to offer a refund in the same medium as you paid for the model (i.e. cash for cash or credit card re-credit etc).

If they get picky then tell them you're forwarding a piece about the situation to the local newspaper, this is normally all it takes to get a refund sorted as shops don't like bad publicity obviously.....Trading standards can be called in if all else fails ... they love this sort of thing.

Regarding the kit ... it's a cracker ...but ....£455 and you have to purchase figures seperately??

And my final say ......a man of your talents could have scratch built this (at this scale) in the year you've been waiting...

Hi folks sorry if i did not make it very clear the shop did offer a refund, but it was the importers and manufacturers who were messing me around. I am very happy with a line of credit in the shop as it means i don't have to dip into my wages for the next two months which is good. I have been trying to source the dora else where unfortunately everyone seems to be in the same position as my local shop, what really gets me is if the kit is going to cost too much money to ship then why sell it in a catalogue in the first place.
