Having lost my driving licence earlier this year due to ill health I had to wait 6 months to see if the treatment for my sleep aponea has worked sufficiently.

Good news, went to see the consultant and he has told me that I am okay with the CPAC machine and doing really well, all levels are now down to well below 5 times (stopping breathing per hour) which is normal-I was an average of 31 times an hour. He has signed me off from wanting to see me again although still on the machine for the future and in contact if I need them.

So, today I got all my stuff together and it has been posted out to the DVLA, hopefully I will be able to get my licence back in the next week or so.

Only problem is I am an old fart that enjoyed my paper licence, now I will have the new photo one with me looking like Carlos the Jackal :D

Great news mate you do know that cars don't come with a starting handle now mate :D

Hope it all goes well for you. I think the DVLA play with the photoshop machine just for fun, My photo looks like a deranged axe murderer. All the best, just off to sharpen the axe.

Great news Si....... Hopefully they'll get it back to you without too much fuss............. If they jerk you around. Some advice. My missus lost hers a few years back, she was having blackouts. When she got sorted and the GP signed her off DVLA still managed to jerk her around on it, no real reason and eventually stopped answering letters and stuff......... Eventually I dragged her off for an appointment with our MP ......... Now we all have our opinions of them....... but this bloke (Jeremy Hunt) proper rattled the sabres and set his PA onto it. She was like a rotweiller about it..........DVLA do not like having MP's on their case......... and 10 days later her driving licence was back along with a letter apologising profusely "admin errrors etc"....... Do n't let em get yer Si.

Great news Si , hope you get mobile again soon , and please post us the driving licence pic , i want to see Carlos !! Cheers tony

Great news about your health and getting your licence back. :)

With all the pills I take, I'll never get mine back.

Great news Si don't forget you need to employ someone to walk in front of yer car with a red flag;) :P

You should be fine Si. I was diagnosed with sleep apeona and had my CPAC machine for about 7 years now. Had very high readings nearly double yours on initial tests, all under control now. I never lost my licence.

Glad your feeling better Si, maybe you can back off the meds a bit:D:oops:
Just got back from the docs Jim, changed the meds from stronger ones all the time to just morning and night and then some lesser ones during the day, just need to get it rebalanced. Also off to a pain clinic to help with posture etc as the pain is causing a knock on effect to other joints and muscles. Also back to see the mental health people, not being a good place again and the pain hasn't helped this. At least on the right path again.

Thanks guys, although not so good physically and mentally, hopefully this will be a tonic and a pick me up, a bit of personal freedom.

Great news Si, its a wonderful mental relief to have your independance back.

I had to go to the QEF foundation in surrey to attend a safety and ability assessment in order to get my licence from DVLA, it made it sooo much easier, as theyre recognised by the DVLA.

If you have issues with DVLA over the Doctors verification, id urge you to attent QEF, as they dont just do disability assesments, but also fit to drive medical assesments. If they say youre fine, DVLA dont argue!

Just take it all in stride my friend , soon enough you will get things in balance I'm sure. I have degenerating discs, far beyond any surgical repair, can basically get any narcotic prescription I could possibly want, yet I never fill them nor do I ever take them. My physical therapy consists of slowly processing a forest into firewood, long hikes in pursuit of freezer stuffers {deer} and sex thrice a week.

Bit of a hectic schedule but I do mange some modelling time in between. ;) ................Jim:)

Congrats on the health news Si ( so please for you ) I lost my licence after my strokes but few weeks ago I got it back after they sent me to specs avers for eyetest which I passed. Got to get the all, clear from Occupational Health before returning to work

Oh I found your car!!! ( was this your??

Cheers

Robert
