I gave up on collet pin vices and bought one with a chuck, much more user friendly.
What a good idea. Didn't know they were made with a chuck. Changing the collet is a pain.I gave up on collet pin vices and bought one with a chuck, much more user friendly.
When Rachel comments on my tools in any way I always come back with....I think you should continue to post reviews mate; most modellers hold fairly firmly entrenched views on this, that, and t'other - I seriously don't think you should consider any 'negative' response as a personal attack on your perceptions. We're all big boys (and girls (although I'm not being 'sizeist, sexist or any other 'ist' I promise)); if or unless we've used the tool in question, or have a discrete understanding of the subject matter from a knowledgeable perspective our opinions are just that - opinions! I'm actively considering a pair by the way! (Tools, tools, tools - lovely tools My Precious!!! Feel 'em, smell 'em, use 'em ... !)

Was going to try on my ginger moggie, but he gave me his ninja look!Bob seems to have drifted off subject a bit but one question about the snips that hasent been asked is what are they like with gnarly old toe nails can they cope with only a blade on one side. Dave the
Well I never! Similar to you, there are brands I've never heard of - in my case it's Zucron and they already come with a recommendation! Will do some research, Ta very much chaps!Enjoy reading the review Bob. There's a lot in the saying " You get what you pay for "
Over the years I've bought many tools , when at work like you buying some "Snap-on " I would buy top quality because I needed reliability.
At first in modelling I had those cheap snips, but eventually went for the Tamiya, certainly hadn't heard of that make you mentioned. Having read a review then I may have well bought those.
My most expensive hand tools were a pair of Zucron pe snips, well worth the expense as they can cut so close. Just a pity I can use most of the PE :smiling2:
Thanks Dave, I was in bed last night when I wrote that, Zucron is a sugar I think ! God I've lost the plot :smiling2:Sorry John not doing the school teacher thing on you buddy but did you mean Xuron. Not that I use them but I think their snips are a pretty safe recommendation as well ,long established American hobby tool company model rail etc. Dave
