Hi Pete
The cockpit looks great and I'm glad you got the fit sorted. Funnily enough on my 1/48 version my cockpit fitted between the two fuselage halves OK but would not go in square.

Woo-hoo! Pilot's headrest made and fitted, cockpit in place and fuselage halves joined!

Wings tomorrow, I hope.

Pete.
Boy that's some clamp ! Nice to see every effort being employed to beat it into shape .:thumb2:

Well, the wing/fuselage joint looks fine on one side:

The other side, not so good:

Going to need some serious scraping to get that to fit. Of course it all fitted just fine before I glued the cockpit in!

Looking nice. As for bits not fitting, I don't feel right if I'm not surrounded by polystyrene scrappings !

Hi Pete
That fit does look pretty bad. I am sure that you will sort it - sanding and clamping :smiling5:
Jim

Good luck. This sort of challenge makes you stronger.
Keep persevering.

Thanks Colin, Jim, Dave.
Well, after much scraping(and swearing) the wing roots now fit. The area at the back of the wing under the fuselage is a bit of a problem, having to force it into place then add some Extra Thin. It's getting there though. Photos later.
I'm amazed that gunsight has (so far) survived all the rough handling!

Pete

Well done. For keeping control if nothing else.
Revell's Hurricane was very similar.

Thanks for the warning Dave, I have one of those in the stash!

Oh no, don't worry. That will drop off at the end of the build, right down into the bottom of the fuselage -gone forever.

It's the Hurricane IIC, 1/72nd.
When the wings go onto the fuselage there's quite a misalignment.
Otherwise it's a nice kit.

Yes, that's the one I've got, in a set with paints, brush, and glue.

A little more progress:

I'm planning to build it with the canopy and door open, but I'll use the closed canopy and door, temporarily stuck in with Maskol, to mask off the cockpit. The door is already fitted in the photo above.
Next task is to paint the underside, and the parts that need painting Sky before assembly (radiator covers, u/c doors, tailwheel leg). Actually I think I should paint the white stripes first, as I'm going to do one of these schemes, probably the Tangmere one on the left. Anyone know how wide the invasion stripes should be?
