Doug, have you thought about doubling up on readers? It's something I also do.

So wear your prescription readers which will correct the differences between your eyes, then another pair on top when you need extra magnification.

Anyone that watches the TV programme Repair Shop will see that it's a popular option.

I also have a set of clip ons that fit to my prescription readers, that I can flip up or down for extra magnification if I need it.

I find either of these less clumsy than extra visors, but the fact that I keep changing between different things shows I haven't found a set up I'm truly happy with yet! :nerd:

Optivisors do fit nicely over prescription specs if you need them too. You may feel a little “double glazed” if you do, but it works.

For me it's balancing being able to see, with the faff of eyewear. I need my prescription readers to see the instructions etc, but like a bit more magnification when working. So if I'm flipping back & forth between reading & building I'm either having to keep swapping, or double up somehow.

I know some kind of visor is the best way, but I don't like having them hanging out in front of my face.

I suppose in many ways I'm lucky. I need glasses for distance so I wear them for driving etc but close up, reading and the like, I'm fine. Actually as I get older my vision has improved slightly. Consequently I don't wear glasses for modelling and only need magnification and
so the Optivisor works well. I can hinge the lenses up and pull them down when needed.

To be honest, that’s why I don’t wear them much anymore. I have to wear varifocals these days and constant flipping the visor up and down to read gets annoying…..when I had contacts that were fine for both reading and distance they were great though, I could look over them to read. Can’t do that with varifocals, the reading bit is at the bottom…..

Thank you everyone for all your views and various options. I have ruled out additional lights. That isn't my problem.
I think the route I will be going down is one of those contraptions you stick on your head and using various lenses can alter magnification whilst still wearing ones prescription glasses. I don't have an issue wearing something on my head, I spent yonks with a heavyish helmet so a few ounces of plastic will be a doddle. Plus I won't be wearing it all the time just when the going gets tough.

Well I ordered a headset type with a variety of different magnification lens that have the ability to have two sets of lens fitted at any one time.
It's a 'eSynic' model with illumination!!! Under £30 so not a biggy if I can't get on with it.
So in view of it due to arrive Monday or Tuesday, I have paused the Wasp build until it arrives!!
I'll try and remember to keep you informed on how I get on with it!!

Already posted this on the Wasp build but this is what I obtained. Initial thoughts are positive, the lens are glass and offer large choice of magnifications. Took a few minutes to get the headband adjusted. The 3 led lights offer 2 illumination levels and again, appear to do the job of putting bright light where needed. For under £30 it'll do.

Looks good and very good price. Magnification and decent lighting really does help. You'll be able to see all your c***-ups so much more clearly :smiling3:
