I commented on this thread: http://www.scale-models.co.uk/community/threads/the-secret-weapon.29655/ that it would be an idea for a GB, so posting it here so it doesn't get lost.

However, one point I just found is that it is 1/32 so adding ordnance to it might not be so simple as just looking in the spares box. But not insurmountable I guess,

Revell Colonial Viper 1/32, any colour scheme any customisations but so long as it does not resemble the OOTB kit in colour scheme.

Guess this early for 2016 given 2015 list is complete

Hi Neil,

Ordnance for 1/32 is difficult ........ But I manged to find a couple of GBU-24's and an AGM-130 for mine .......

It would be better to get a similar style model in 1/48 or 1/72 just because there is much more scope to add bits and pieces I guess.

When I was a kid we had loads of lego - the old style just bricks none of these figures and specialist bits like they have now and we used to make planes out of them, characteristic they had to have as many "engines" and "bombs" as we could fit on the wings, tail, stabilisers - basically anywhere we could add ordnance we did - all too frequently these things would never have left the ground they would have been so heavy, but we would "fly" them by hand, and this is when it would become apparent that we may have overloaded them a bit when you'd make it turn sharply and the whole plane would spectacularly collapse into individual bricks and flat pieces.

I sort of having a vision of something slightly evolved from that

Maybe the idea could be expanded to cover ANY sci-fi kit in today's colours, or WWII or whatever.

A great idea but like Dave ( Gern ) say's any Science-fiction kit would be better, and as for ordnance I don't think 1/48 on a 1/32 kit would look out of place, but with the introduction of Proton torpedo's and the like would they have under slung ordnance ?

It's a great idea and I'm up for it , I think because it's Sci Fi you can do what you like but I would also expand it to any craft

I think over the wing ordinance would be quite good and I think the size of 1/32 on the viper might look a bit too big as it is quite a small fighter so I also think Ian's idea of 1/48 would suit it

OK, well we have time to fine-tune this one before the calendar is settled for 2016 I think

So any sci-fi build so long as it is not finished OOTB which includes colour scheme, markings or external internal stores. That should cover it right? So you can't go and get a sci-fi and load it with available after market for that particular model, it has to be finished to something that does not exist as standard or after-market.

Why not after market parts. Do you mean that all additional parts should be scratch built?


I can't see any difference between using aftermarket parts or bits from different kits.

No, I mean that the build should not be made of after market parts for that specific kit, after market parts/decals/colour schemes for any other kit are entirely acceptable. So long as you end up with something that is not as intended by the manufacturer/after market companies.


You could just take a sci-fi build and paint it in the US Navy WW2 blue with decals and that would be fine, or you could take a build and load it up with after market/off-kit stores, munitions or anything else, just so long as it does not look as per the box art in effect.
