Forum going very slow?

The speed has been decreasing throughout the day but for the past five minutes it has been lightning fast. Perhaps John has just given the server's hamster a shake.

I think he better use the two brick trick on that animals testicals, then something might happen, eh.

I can't post pictures just get a white square fine on other sites!

Very poor .... can barely access threads to read never mind post. I'd love to see the server set up here. Must be a bargain.

I can show the server setup if you feel you can improve it and help, it’s not a cheap server, far from it, it also hosts one of my business sites so it needs to be right, I’ve not noticed any issues for quite a few days, I’m guessing it was slow when you posted so I will try and get some info from the logs around that time

Bit unnecessary Toto. How about you offer suggestions as you obviously have extensive experience of running this sort of show. It is far more constructive than disparaging the efforts of others with absolutely no evidence to back it up.

Apologies ... just frustrating. It was nigh on impossible to open any post at all.

What software is the forum run on. Could it be zenforo. i had my own forum for around 12 years ( i have now handed it on to others ).

It started off on ultrabb software but was successfully migrated over onto Zenforo after a while. It was hosted on godaddy until just lately when I handed it over to one of the other mods, he migrated it again to his own server due to godaddy costs almost doubling in price.

I was fortunate to have my IT freind who done most of the complicated maintainence but I was involved and rode shotgun. I'll give him a call and see if he can give me some pointers on where to start.

Again apologies for the rather ill thought out comment. I appreciate the use of your forum and appreciate the time band expense keeping these platforms going.

Many thanks

Toto

I've been around here for 7 years under different guises.

I can count the number of unplanned outages on one hand, and the number of sluggish periods using the other, which I think is a very good record.

I think it's always worth reporting just to ensure that John is aware but I don't believe there's a serious problem to deal with.

Never been on any sort of forum or web site that doesn’t occasionally have this sort of issue. Basically, if something doesn’t seem to work, tell John and wait for the advice or resolution. He’s far more likely to get back to you than on most other sites.

I think I've fixed it, there was a full backup running this morning, but also I had something else running that I was testing and forgot to remove, that was taking a big part of the memory, I've totally removed it and it should be fixed, if there are any other slow downs, can you post in this thread with the time so I have check it

Thanks for the offer, I've been managing web servers for over 30 years, I usually manage to figure things out.

All running fine for me. I agree with Andy - very rare for there to be problems. Thanks John.
