My recently completed bust of an old Pili Pili Kyoto Belle.

Nice brushwork Bill. Freehand work in particular, is excellent. One minor observation though, she looks more Maiko (apprentice) than Geiko (Full Geisha). Maiko wear colourful clothes like this to detract from their perceived lack of conversational skills……my wife and I did a great guided tour in Kyoto explaining all this….

I quite agree Tim. I used Geisha because that is a more universally understood term. Rather like Samurai is used for all soldiers when most were Ashigaru.

I envy you your Japanese trip, I could afford one but it doesn't appeal to the missus.

That’s a shame, I’m sure she’d love it when you get there…..It’s very clean and everything just works……I know you would like it, there are still model shops in prime locations. It was actually our trip to Tokyo and Kyoto that brought me back to the hobby after a ten year hiatus. I enjoyed looking around some of the model shops and came back with a Tamiya 222 armoured car kit as my souvenir
