Hello chaps, more progress to report :smiling4:

Construction nearly completed and I have started priming.

A couple of things I did during construction to enhance the build was firstly drill out the machine gun barrels.

I also sanded away the backs of the shell ejector holes so they are open too.
I think little details like this, while fiddly to do lift the build a bit so are worth the faff :tears-of-joy:

I have primed some of the ancillary parts already and will prime the fuselage today hopefully.

Once primed I can check to see whether any joins/seams need tidying up.

Thanks for looking :thumb2:

Had a nice read up on this.......looks great. All the little things you do on a build add up and IMHO do "lift" the final result to the next level......definitely worth the faff. :thumb2:

Lovely stuff Geoff ,
Those barrels,in particular, stand out for me...... and in this scale...... a real achievement :surprised:,
Excellent :thumb2:,

Super work Geoff!!! I bet drilling the barrels was a test of nerves and patience in 1/72. Brave man you are and they do look good...

Here’s where I am with the build so far guys.

After the last update the engine nacelles and cockpit canopy were added.
The nacelles were a bit tricky and needed a bit of filling and sanding. Once I was happy with them I primed it with black Mr Surfacer 1500.
Then once completely dry it had a top coat of Vallejo Metal Color 77.717 Dull Aluminium.

The ancillary parts have also been pretty much done, I just need to finish the propellers.

Next up I need to mask the wings and tail planes and paint on the theatre ID stripes.

I just need to work out how wide they would need to be in 1/72 scale .

Another update soon :thumb2:

Thanks,

Geoff.

A good amount of progress Geoff. The build looks neat and the paint has gone on smoothly. I've not used Mr S 1500 primer but many do and speak highly of it.

I’ve only recently started using it but I do like it so far.

Hello guys,

Unfortunately I’ve had a bit of a set back :disappointed2:

After the last update it was all going well. I had a monster masking session ready to paint the theatre ID bands.

I eventually managed to get these looking right after a bit of a faff and once dry last d down a clear coat ready for the decals.

Unfortunately, and I’m not sure exactly why the varnish pooled on the wings. It was my usual Alclad Aqua Gloss which I have used many times previously with no probs. Maybe I was a bit heavy handed this time  I’m not sure.
I managed to wick some of it off with a tissue but the one wing still looked pretty bad.
I tried to polish it out but in the end it just damaged the paint.

So I’ve had to mask off the ID stripe and give it a over spray of the original Vallejo Metal Color Dull Aluminium.

Thankfully this has gone on reasonably well so once I clear coat this section I can start adding the decals.

Here’s how it looks now.
