Geoffs Trumpeter 1/48 MiG-3

I know nowt about aircraft but that build is extremely nice. Is there any scientific/ aerodynamic/ performance/ manouevrability reason why the fuselage rear of the cockpit is so short in comparison to the engine cowling?

It was designed for high altitude combat so whether that’s the reason I don’t really know know. I think it looks very good though, it reminds me a a racing aeroplane.
