I got some german panzer grenadiers for Christmas, so, of course, I went to assemble them.

I assemble one, and since I always paint figures of people one at a time, I go to paint him.

Then I realize, I don't know what color are german infantry in the summer of 1943 on the eastern front (Russia).

Does anybody know what color they are, because I looked up some picures and some soldiers have green uniforms and others have grey

The technical answer is feldgrau or field grey, which was actually a lightish green / grey colour.

Personally, I never look for a tin of paint marked up ' german uniform colour ' , simply because they varied so much in the field & depended on weather, usage, local conditions & if the wearer had time to maintain their uniform.

Mix some green with a little grey & Bob's your mother's brother!

Alternatively if you purchase some Tamiya Field Grey XF65 I believe, that is a realistic colour and good enough to use, either option works, believe me!
