...I thought I might get back into it but I just haven't done anything model-related for well over two years so think I need to sell it all (or try to anyway). What would people say was the best way to go about this? Piecemeal or as a whole?


I'm talking about a modest/reasonable amount of paints (Tamiya acrylics), thinners, Chinese airbrush and compressor (I'm assuming they still work!), brushes, implements. By no means a "hoard" but not a tiny amount.


I am guessing the first response will be "make a list of what you've got and come back to us, via the classifieds" but I thought I'd ask anyway ;-)

You guessed correctly. Sorry to learn that you are giving it up, I would say pack the hardware; airbrush, compressor, paint brushes, even paints (clean the lids and make sure they are on tight and they will keep for ages if kept cool and dry). You might change your mind later.


But if you are sure, make a list in the market place and see how it goes.

I wouldn't recommend selling in one big lot Rob - you'll find it harder to find someone who needs everything and has the cash to pay out what could be a large amount. Most modellers have their kits and tools pretty well sorted and will only want the bits they don't already have.


I'd suggest batching together in smaller lots which are connected. Maybe the airbrush and compressor together, all the paints as a single batch, your smaller tools like knives, files, brushes in another batch and so on. Any larger kits you have should be sold separately - especially if you have aftermarket parts. You should include all the extras you may have bought with the kit they're meant for. Smaller/cheaper kits could be batched together.

Yes I agree with Dave. There will be more around interested in small lots. Think you would be lucky to sell as one job lot.


But may be worth a try as one lot. Nothing lost as you can always resort to small lots.

Thanks guys. It would be with regret to get rid of it but I just can't see it coming out to play again any time soon. Not expecting to get rich but it cost me enough (or it seemed to!!) to amass it all so seems wrong for it to be sat there doing nothing. I'll probably itemise it and find I haven't got nearly as much there as I thought!! Thanks again.

A few years ago I sold my airbrush & compressor by a classified ad in the local paper, and had no problem


It would be easier for you to sell everything at once, so you could try classified ads, supermarket notice boards, newsagents windows and so on. They're considered a bit old-fashioned now, but they're simple and still get results. List it as something like - complete set of plastic modelling tools and materials, including an airbrush and compressor

Muckster I'm just starting out and need to buy everything im planing on building tanks but I have no tools or models as of yet so if you could let me know what sort of money your looking for maybe this could work out well for both of us.

OK thanks all - I've unearthed most of it, as previously suspected, not *quite* as much there as I remember! Lots of bits of sprue that were "handy" though, not much of a resale value there though ;-)
