I think to be honest if you are going to use a wash then pre-shading is a waste of time.

well engine and bearers built fuselage detailed and highlighted just need to start putting together (along with a 190 d9 a 262 a uss enterprise a me109 and now thanks to Richard a Bloody uboat pen

i know what you mean nigel. terry keeps suggestion that i should go into r/c tanks, toby keeps showing me pictures of really nice fast speed boats its really, really annoying i wish i could stop time and have a money tree!!!

True richard but im not very good at washes, i was thinking preshading and then drybrushing, that way i avoid the dreaded wash (although a burnt umber oil wash would look good with the desert camo i think....)

argggg...now i cant make up my mind, lol!

engine looked bare so its now being plumbed properly (thinking about the gun bays as well now ( bloody prop is inaccurate though)

Nice spot of detail Nigel. What did you do the pre-shading with? I am not too sure that this has a great deal of effect.

I think putting a wash over a coat of future gives more realistic panel shading. Are you going to do that as well or let the preshading show through and do the job?

Coming along nicely though.

It depends on scale sometimes it looks right other times you still need a wash also the paint may be too opaque to let it show thru and in that case its a coat of klear and then redone with a draughting pen (isograph)

Engine all plumbed !Firewall detailed ! Wings on and now just finishing the finer points before painting il post a few pics up asap

This looks as if it is shaping into another Nigel classic build, lovely workmanship

Coming along very nicely Nigel. You certainly can't beat the shape of a Spitfire.

I like the extra detailed bits inside the engine bay. Is this destined for a diorama?

spit

Thanks Guys Im Blushing!!!

The engine and formers/framework are all scratchbuilt! as is the firewall etc The tamiya kit had to have extensive surgery to allow it all to fit! The cockpit has a few extra bits but Tamiya provide quite a nice bit of detail already! The piping is made from solder , copper wire and fuse wire! lots of other plastic bits came from plastruct! The plan is she will be on a diorama base with a Mechanic doing some maintanence on the engine. Assorted pipes cables and bits scattered around!

Nigel thats looking really good, i love the work youve done on the engine bay you elitest you! Cant wait to see it all finnished!

Mines cockpit got smashed so ive had to scratch build quite a few new bits and its awaiting a coat of paint. In fairness its been waiting for its paint for about 3 months im just so busy!

MY Spit Finshed at last

Right here she is all done !!! If you like her why dont you pop along to the Scale Models Auction thread where you can bid on her !!!! all moniesgo to the cost of running the forum so go on folks you know you want to help out:grinball2:
