We have just had a hail storm, it only lasted 10 minutes though.
Here is what fell out of the heavens, hand in the picture for size reference, about 20mm.

Holly crap! Hope the damage wasn't to much. They look like they could do some damage!

Rather you than me. Hailstones like that could do some damage, certainly give you a nasty headache if caught outside.

Fortunately we didn't have any damage.

Haha I had to go out in it to gather the hailstones under orders from SWMBO, but wore a hat which deflected the hail.

WOW Garry we had a storm like that 30 yrs ago when livin in our old house an a women next door neighbour went out to cover her car wind screen an she had a big hail stone hit her ont the head an she was bleedin so bloomin dangerous when they fall that size wow

We used to have hail storms like that I Johannesburg on a regular basis. You can imagine, as a body/paint shop owner, that we profited out of other people's misery.
The worst hailstone I ever saw went through the rear hatch glass, parcel shelf and dented the boot floor through the carpet on a Mazda 323.

Yes, I am very aware of the Johannesburg thunderstorms, my brother lives in Vereeniging.

Glad we don’t get them here as big as that. (Not that I’m aware). Seen them abroad and on board ship like that and bigger. They ain’t fun!!!!

Mine used to wrap my sandwiches up in road maps, but I got around that - I bought a satnav, and now carry my sandwiches under my hat.... you cannot fool me!!!

Thanks for the heads up mate, I’ll be very careful

Vereeniging.
Weird name for a town, that :) (It means “union”, “society” or “club” in Dutch, though spelled with only two <e>s these days, and I assume the meaning hasn’t drifted much in Afrikaans.)
