Have any of you good folks got any experience with the Verlinden range more specifically their engine compartments? I am having trouble getting this one to fit and the destruction's are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. I have thought about cutting the housings out for the running gear stubs but I don't think even that will give enough room. It says it is for Tamiya or Dragon so in theory should go Right?

I know from past experience that these resin addons can be a sod to work with but this one has me scratching the old nogging. Any help/suggestions will be gratefully received thanks in advance.

Here are a few pics of my dilemma

Thanks Monica that looks a better fit than mine. it also looks like he may have removed the rear plate from the hull and used the engine bay one. Either that or he has sanded the rear wall down to paper depth. this one seems to sit a lot lower than mine so I am thinking I was right about removing the running gear housings which is going to be a bugger to do.

Can you not skim the bottom of the engine etc so that sits lower, got to be easier than cutting the plate or hull parts.

so glad its of some use to you Terry, and was able to helpout a little, :D

I like the sounds of Si,plan to shave some oof the bottom of,the engine,is by far less work, and easier 9_9

Si looking at it I may have to do both skimming the bottom plate off the resin and remove the running gear housings to drop it enough

The gap in the above picture is with the upper body part sat on top of the bulkhead plate to get rid of that gap is going to take a bit of chopping. If it doesn't work I can I will just use the engine parts in the barn.

oh ouch, that would be good to 10mm or so, :S

but the engine may have a lot off, what you call it extra mold,on it as well,so its suitable for a few models, 9_9

so the death may be able to be trimmed back,

That is some gap Terry, if you feel confident then hack away. A lot of work for very little return in my book.

Not much help to you, but though Verlinden (which is on the point of closing or has just closed for the final time) were early in on the resin after market, they never once made a set that didn't need a good fettle to actually fit the intended model.

Cheers

It's certainly nothing that you have done :)

You are just one of the many who will end up filing plastic until you can see through it, and hacking at bits of resin, to make it all fit.

Cheers
