It is an old kit made between 1980-1990. I found the box in a second hand shop. Some pieces was allready glued, the plastic is allready to old to un done. Still some pieces to make and to fit.

HMCS Snowberry was a Flower-classcorvette that was originally built for the Royal Navy, but spent most of the war in service with the Royal Canadian Navy. She fought primarily as a convoy escort during the Second World War. She served primarily in the Battle of the Atlantic.View attachment 76321

This is actually a cracking kit and is one of those rare models that can still hold it's head up many years after being first introduced. I have always promised myself I will make one of these to go with my 1/72nd revel U-boat!

You have made a great job of this one and produced some lovely weathering techniques. I have seen numerous examples of this kit where the weathering has been far too excessive but you have got it spot on. If you study period pictures of these ships you will realise that rust streaks should be in scale with the vessel to look realistic. Although these ships were hard driven and not in the best of conditions at 1/72nd scale rust streaks do not actually cover the whole side of the ship!

Lovely job of a great model and some great pictures of it as well. Many thanks for posting this.

This model has actually just been rereleased, yet again!, this time with a wooden deck and PE included but it is now around £100.00 so not very cheap. It should make into a stunning model though and well worth buying one if you are into this type of thing.

A great build of an enigmatic ship.

I have this model sitting at the back of my bench and I now feel guilty of not having gotten it finished! (still its only been there four years... :-/ )

I Am building mine as HMS Bluebell. I have the submarine that sank her and I want the aircraft that sank the sub...just to complete the story...

Nice paint work and nice model. I've been tempted to buy the re-released kit. I've also been looking at the deans marine version. IIRC this kit could be converted to radio control

Just to compare the Deans Marine version is 1/96th scale as opposed to the 1/72nd scale of this one.

I want to get a 72nd scale Flower class corvette as well. I intend to do it up as K181 or the HMCS Sackville, which is still currently tied up alongside at the "maritime museum of the atlantic" in my hometown of Halifax. Thus I will have ample actual photographs to take and study for better authenticity.

I built this kit a long time ago. I was just finished it, when our house was burgled, and they wrecked it, totally destroyed, so I put it up in the loft and have not had the heart to begin to fix it, yhey took all the good out of it for me. But after seeing yours I might just attempt a repair

Always wanted to build one of these & R/C it, but the price was too prohibitive.


You have really done this justice, especially as you have had to deal with a semi built kit, not the easiest thing to do!

The Flower Class were certainly at the front of the U-boat war. It beats me why one was never preserved as a tribute to the men who served on them, and for the roll they played in the Battle of the Atlantic. One of these in the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool would have been a befitting monument to all those who lost their lives whilst serving on them.

As Gregg points out, this is a fave for RC conversion, set up correctly it looks superb on the water.
