Hi friends!

I know is a thread bit stupid, but this evening I have seen a part of the movie " Super 8 " of S.Spilberg. The young protagonist, tries to explain to the girl how he paint a locomotive, tonality of gray and dry brush!!!

I have been charmed with it!! After thinking a large moment, I don't bear in mind to appear modellers in the movies... Probably should see more!!

Does someone remember someone??

Where are you "movie maniacs"???!!!

I saw that as well and thought Hey A model maker! Cool. Apart from that I cant think of anything.

Yeah, I saw that too. Still think the movies, and quite a lot of the population, see modelling as "kid stuff" - the modeller on super 8 is a teen - and not a serious hobby. Even my GF calls it, playing with my boys toys, in a nice way of cause.

I don't mind though, I enjoy my hobby.

Tony.

sorry to say but i think people who do models are stuck with the stigma of been strange/weird lot of my friends dont even know i do it....i love the hobby they dont know what there missing..

It doesn't help when places such as E-Bay, Amazon etc list models in the toy sections...

I'm with you Tony (and all you) !! And I don't understand that everything has evolved, less this. In our youth we were doing some kits, now there is no boy of 15 years build models (only playstation,etc).... nonetheless it's considered of young persons.

How many activate members under 30 years we have ...?

There will be necessary to claim more our hobby on the cinema!!!

I will stick my hand up as a rep for the youth wing! I'm 26 but have been building models since i was about...8 or 9 iirc.

Then there was the Warhmmer 40K years from 12-14, then a hiatus until last year.

I cant help but think i remember a film where the kid had loads of aircraft hanging from his ceiling...escapes me!
