discussion How many have you built?

Since my return to modelling I've been plodding away at all sorts of model subjects, ranging from WWII planes to modern armour.


So doing some quick sums, in the 5 years I've been back building I've built ,,,,,,,37 subjects!!!!


That's 7.4 a year.


You may not know your count but what would be your guess?

I reckon around 30 items in 3 years or so. Various categories, with costumes even thrown in.

i got back into this lark in 2006 but only started keeping tally in 2009....habit from when i used to post on the airfix forum


since 2009 ive finished 140 kits,,,,,thats 20ish per year on average,,,,,,ive slowed down a lot, i did go though a phase where it was almost like a production line.....in 2006 i finished 31 (well i was out of work lol)....last year it was only 16.......so far this year ive finished 7.....and that includes one that took over 6 months!


ive also bought 248 kits since 2009

When you say subjects Adrian do you mean 37 builds over all categories like planes tanks or do you mean 37 categories like one from tanks one from trains ect?

If say about 30 in about 3.5 yrs returning to it ( I'm getting better ) I'll have to put more on here I think, but I'm too critical of myself most of the time.


I have about 10 projects under way possibly few more but all around 70% complete ( mainly painting and weathering to complete them)


I'll get there one day

Since Sept.2013 my builds are...


5... 1/12 motorbikes.


4... 1/72 aircraft.


1... 1/48 aircraft


1... 1/48 apache helicopter


3... 1/35 tanks + 1 self-propelled gun.


1... 1/24 truck


1...1/24 car + another 1 working on.

lol.......back then i had lots of free time since i was out of work, it kept me occupied so it was easy to turn round something like a 1/24 car in a week.....i can remember doing a lotus 7 in under 24 hours for a blitzbuild gb on the airfix forum.....these days i dont have the time....working stupid shifts mean for one week in three im too tired to sit at the bench, lose interest..............also had a period of burnout cos i did so many, rather take my time and do a better job these days

In away i should keep tabs on it,but don't,


maybe some were in the 20,s or even more,

Ouch! I'm worried


I returned on 2011, just four years ago. During this period I built 14 different models.


But....I started twelve more that I never finished, or are broken or on the trash.....


So, only the 50% of my models are a successful....

8. 1/32 Stuka

10. 1/32 Spitfire Mk1!!


11. 1/32 Spitfire Mk1!!!


+9 Commission builds: 2 x 1/32 Spitfires, 1/72 Vulcan, 1/39? Wright Flyer, 1/144 Boeing A737, 1/144 Concorde, 1/48 Tornado, 1/32 Red Arrows Hawk, 1/48 Harrier GR9,


and on the bench still...


2 more Spitfires!!!!!!!!!!!!


2 x Fokker Dr1s


Spitfire diorama base


so that's 20 complete kits and 1 complete diorama (with 9 figures)


with 4 kits and 1 diorama (with 4 figures) underway.


This is nowhere near as impressive a tally as some, but I'm actually surprised out how much I have done.

A quick count - 80 since 2009


Currently on 81


My builds (cars primarily) are now biggies - 1/8 and some 1/12 so My builds are about 3 or so per year, particularly as I'm scratch building a few.


My pile is:


9 x 1/8 cars - currently building the 10th.


9 x 1/12


4 x 1/16


About 20 x 1/24


The rest 1/32 and 1/43.


Still got another 4 x 1/8 and about 15 x 1/12 in in the stash.....


As well as countless 1/24 and smaller.
