Hello my Friends.
After all your great support I am sorry to say that I am back on the smokes.
I began to feel really lost without my normal routine and I was forgetting to take my medication this caused me to start having psychotic episodes.
By time last Thursday came Paula had to ring the emergency mental health team, they turned up late Thursday evening and sedated me.
They came again Friday morning and after a long discussion with them and Paula it was decided it would be better for me to go back on the smokes.
I have only been smoking 12 a day(which is better than about 40/50)and they have been much skinnier as well.
With this arrangement I feel better in my mind and have got a routine back.
So from today I will be back posting.
All the best.
Ralph.

Well Ralph, you gave it a go and have reached a compromise that suits you, so you've gained a lot. I'm sorry to hear that it was such hard work, but perhaps the all or nothing approach was too tough. Glad to have you back my man.

Ralph,
Sorry to hear you had such a tough time of it. At least you have found a solution that works for you.

Good to hear youre back to yourself ralph , shame about the ciggies but look on the positive side , youre not smoking as many as you used to so theres still a benefit there , try and keep the number down and maybe you can slowly reduce it without the drastic side effects . Whatever its good to hear youre better , we‘ re all still here when you need us , cheers tony

Sorry to hear that Ralph, but don't let it get you down, and don't let this one slip stop you from trying again. You haven't failed, you've just had a bit of a setback.

I'm with the guys here Ralph, better to get back on track and normality. As Tony said, cutting back can lead to quitting them totally. Just holler if you need help!!!

That's tough Ralph, but full marks for giving it your best shot.
In hindsight ( which we are all good at) perhaps it might have been better to try and give up gradual like.

Smoking or not, you know what suits you best. And far better to be in a settled state of mind with a fag than without.

Onwards and upwards.... :thumb2:

Thank you all so much guys.
Before smoking again I agreed that I would not chain smoke and had to wait a minimum of half hour between fags.I am currently waiting at least an hour or more between fags and my mind is doing well.

Hi mate.
Don’t beat yourself up over this.....it’s more a strategic withdrawal rather than a defeat. If you want to try again we’ll be here, but perhaps it would be prudent to take medical advice before quitting again.
cheers
Tim

Sorry to hear Ralph but as long as you happy an able to live a normal live again well that's the main thing an not put your self through agony i gave up gradually an you may be able to do the same
all best

Hey Ralph.

Don’t be too beat up about it. You know now you can do it and maybe now is just not the right time.
It’s better that you’re happy than not. Glad you’re feeling better.

Tough enough to give up without the extra issues so no shame in not succeeding.

Try to keep control of the number you smoke. If you can keep that down to where you are now, maybe later you can try giving up again when you are used to lower levels - which will be easier.

All I can say Ralph is don't give up on giving up mate, down to 12 is great, take your time and then reduce again... and repeat.
It's a hard thing to do, I smoked for 20 years before I became ill whilst abroad, I haven't had one for nearly 11 years... wish I'd saved the money now

Good luck mate

Lee
