I quit! Smoking that is.

Not being Picky here...
... And very well done for kicking the habit ...
HOWEVER... as we are all pinned in to our personal posts to just,no clever,or humorous headers,in my opinion,BORING ,thread titles,(I.E. "Andy's blah blah blah"),to supposedly stop "Click bate"... Which I personally take as an insult,...
Shouldn't you have simply labeled this one as "I'be given up smoking" ?!!
After all.... "I Quit"... Is SURELY more of a clickbait snare,(Considering you're on the "panel"),to attract a response?!!
Maybe I'm the only one... But it does smack of double standards to me!?
Andy,

Already eat them Dave, have done for years...its a Danish thing.

Still at it. Today has been a bit of a challenge but have not folded and bought any cigarettes lol. Might have to buy more biscuits though
That’s the downside of stopping, Ive put 10” on my waist and at least 6-7 stone that I’ve never been able to shift, stick with it, it does get easier

The chat section is pretty much anything goes as far as titles go. The request for more meaningful titles in build threads is to help the search functionality and others have a chance to actually be able to see what the thread is about. The only section that requires you to include your name in the title are group builds.
Nothing new about these requirements, just seem to be reminding people a lot lately.

Hi Ian
Congratulations. Every day is a great achievement. Stay with it. You're going through the worst at the moment.
Jim

OOPS.........ermmm....Ian, I think I forgot to include my name in my GB Russian Tank build thread......would you mind editing that in please?:rolling: I'll go sit on the naughty steps now.......

Great news Ian, gave up that nasty habit years ago after smoking for over 45 years.
It was very odd though as one day I woke up had my coffee and ciggy as usual, only when I took my first puff
it tasted awful. thinking it was a bad stick I tried another, it tasted even worse!
Thinking it might be a bad pack or something, I opened another....awful!

I could not understand it, anyway I have not touched one since and have never even had the urge ever again!
As a matter of fact others can smoke around me and it has absolutely no effect on me, no temptation no nothing.
It's like I never smoked and never wanted to.....can you believe it!?

So after 6 years of not touching a smoke I developed what I thought was a chest infection or something
so off to the docs I went, turned out to be COPD!
My doc knew I quit the gag rags years ago then had the nerve to tell me it was caused by SMOKING!!!

Go figure!!
Jim.

Good on you Ian. I had a heart attack some years ago and my surgeon told me to quit or I wouldn't see 60. Hardest thing I've ever done but I managed. I've even got over the itch for one whenever I see someone else smoking, but I do get crazy dreams every so often where I've given in to temptation last week and had a cigarette and today I've just bought a packet!

Did you "dream" you bought a pack or did you really buy one?!
If you did in reality... toss it in the bin IMMEDIATLY!!

Don't you dare get started up again as you will deeply regret it sooner than you think.
Re-read my post. They will get you in the end one way or another!

My COPD is "semi" under control but it took some very long nights of wondering if I could even go on at all.
It took about a year to finally get it to semi under control. My meds cost about $3,800 a month.!
Thank God I am a combat veteran (sounds crazy right?) but through the VA my meds are free, If not for that
I'd probably be dead. Even my MEDICARE (for all pensioners in the US) would not pay the total cost.

Though we do have a profitable family business the cost would still be horrendous.
Aside from the cost, think about your loved ones, would you like them to see you wither away from cancer
or be on a respirator and oxygen?

My Father in law was a NYC detective, a very stressful job, but he never brought his work home.
He was a wonderful family man, my wife and her four siblings lived the white picket fence American dream life.
I on the other hand grew up in the mean streets of Brooklyn NY, then off to war.

Upon returning home a bit battered and emotionally bruised I met my wonderful Colleen and were shortly thereafter
married. Her family became the only real family I had ever known.
We gave my Father in law two Grandsons (his first) and did he love them so.

He smoked up to three packs a day! At 6ft 3in and about 260 pounds he was a formidable figure indeed!
He did develop a minor blood clot in his leg, no biggie.
Then he went for his pre-op check up and was told he would be called with a date for minor surgery.

Well he was called alright only to be told to come see the doc in his office asap and could get no further info over the phone.
When they went to the office the doc asked him how he felt...he said "fine, what's up?"
He was informed that his lungs were riddled beyond all hope with cancer.
He promptly told the doc to "F@#% off!" and told my Mom in law "this is why I hate doctors!"

He went from a big strapping figure of a man to practically a skeleton in less than four months and
was in excruciating pain till he passed.....he was only 6o years old. He never got to see his Grandsons grow up.

THINK my friend THINK!

Best of luck to you,
Jim.

Aaahh. Sorry folks - I just re-read what I wrote. I should have been clearer that I bought a pack in my dream! I certainly won't be smoking again in real life!

Now you have more room in your life for other vices; I hear buying models is a safe, cheap, none addictive habit.
