So then. Paint has begun to fly.

Primed with Alclad white and then with Vallejo. I'll let that cure until the weekend then I'll give it a bit of dry brushing and a grime wash. before the details go down.

Looking over the destructions there are quite a few bits to stick on yet.

The detail in the drivers compartment is pretty good, the main gun and the turret gun quite good. The actual turret.... mah. rather boring actually. Still not to many ways to look into that so not a real issue.

The good lady hits 40 tomorrow, so not much more happening until the weekend.

So I was just going to glue the gunners seat into the turret compartment when I found out that I have put the traversing ring on the wrong way around. Oh how I laughed!!! NOT.

I tried to 'un-glue it' but to no avail, so I cut it off and right now it is on the bench drying. Looks like I might have to repaint most of it!

Well my smart phone is charging so pictures tomorrow but it worked out OK. A touch of paint and it will be 'passable'.

SOoooo while I had the saw out, I attacked a couple of the wheel sets to pose them to look like they are riding up over a bump/rock or the like...A minor task: cut the boogy out and in half, drill out the pivot axle, put a brass pin in and glue it up. Looks like its pivoting in the right way....

Polux: I have given the inside a black wash around the transmission and other 'greasy' bits, and a little rust here and there, where condensation might pool. A few swats with a dry brushed metal here and there....

If you mean which type of media, is just vallejo washes. Quite good stuff.

Been doing a bit this AM.

And the interior is now in. The seats are in need of a quick dry brush with a lighter tone to lift them up a bit,

I have got the last 'missing bits' from the floor at the back of the desk and added them to the main gun before they vanish again!

Last but not least, the traverse ring is now the right way around and I just need to add the loaders seats and a few ammo racks need filling!

As it is sprayed, it is as matt as you could hope for, but with a soft cloth and cotton buds, you can bring up a nice shine. Rubbing it with a hard object really makes it pop, like a fresh scratch. View attachment 78543

On to this we spray water onto the victim. I use the airbrush as I have one at hand.

sea salt actually. I use sea salt for a couple of reasons: Its good and coarse and can be ground to a nice fine dust. It makes food taste better and its all well have in the house. Apart from salt flakes. (great on the roast spuds). I digress.
For tight grouping, I drop the salt on from close by. For a more open random spread I drop/throw it on from about six inches.

Right then. Is there anyone that knows for sure what colour the British army primers where? Did they use red or grey lead primer....My guess is Red but I dont want the colour police on my neck after I paint it the wrong colour do I.

While waiting for the water to dry and the salt to (hopefully) stick, I will have a Google.

Then, once the water has gone, and the salt stays put, Its time to find the primer colour. Sod the paint police, I went for the red. More visual impact...

Or mix some. Ha Ha. Mine is a mix of dull red, earth brown and burned cadmium red.

Spay carefully as to not blow the salt away.

Then you get this big red lump with lumps under the paint. When the paint has dried, we will try to get the salt chips off. Then we can do it all again. Why?

Well the salt is masking bare metal and we dont want all the chips to be going down to the metal, do we...

So once the salt is off, I can "edit" the red paint, touching in some of the bare metal. Then the salt goes on again and ready for a coat of Olive drab..... ?
