discussion Interestings Ways of Disposing Of Old Models

Let's see if this generates any unusual methods:

Here again are my offerings:

1) Put them in a carrier bag and given them to local kids to play with.

2) Stuck a banger in an Airfix Bismarck, pushed it out into the pond and watched while the British fleet blew it to bits.

3) Hung an Airfix Lancaster from a washing line and watched the pack of 109's shoot it out of the sky, with the help of an old BSA air rifle.

4) Put a spot of oil on the wheels of an Old Bill Bus model, put some stones in it to give it some momentum and let it go from the top of a steeply inclined pavement. The carnage as the bus crashed into the wall at the bottom of the hill was very satisfying.

5) Tied a 1/72nd Mustang to the bottom of a shilling firework rocket and watched it take off vertically at a very impressive rate of acceleration.

That's enough from me before I get into trouble!!! I'm sure there are many more methods out there that we remember fondly!

I've yet to do so but when I start running out of space I think my disposal method of choice will be...

6) Donate to a charity shop

I remember as a teenager making a model of a knight in armour.

My father owned a .22 airgun which he allowed me to use. I was fed up with shooting tin cans so I came up with the idea of destroying the model knight.

I wanted to shoot a moving target and came up with a plan......

We had a tortoise called Marmaduke so, as my parents were out and I was alone, I found some putty and stuck the knight on the shell of Marmaduke, who was fortunately asleep. I loaded the weapon and finding some lettuce, wafted it under the reptile's nose. Once I had it's full attention, I threw the lettuce a few feet away.

Down on my belly goes I, off for the lettuce goes Marmaduke....Ping! First shot, off flew the knight's head.

All great fun......Until my dad came home early.

One sore backside and one gun confiscated.

Honest Rob, my adventure with the knight, the .22, the lettuce and Marmaduke actually happened....as I have no doubt the disgusting things Richard did to his creations!

So far I have seen some fun ways of doing away with things, but interesting....

Grill metal bucket with water in. Boil until soft then hang them up. Salvador Dahli go home!

Bucket (with a lid) full of acetone. put kit in bucket put lid on. leave until dissolved.

A 12 bore does interesting things to them to. and the tree they hung from.....

This is terrible!.When i was a kid all my models were prized possessions and i wouldnt have dreamed of destroying any of them.You lot were obviously spoilt brats who didnt know they were born!.When i were a lad we had nothin.Lived in a tiny little house with great big holes in the roof........

When I was a lad, our house had no electric, only gas for cooking and lighting.

The family used a tin bath by the fire..Mum first, then the winkies followed by dad, same water.

The only bog was down the yard with newspaper on a bit of string.

And you say you had it hard!!!lol

So you have every single model you have ever built then Dave?

One thing I am not is a spoilt brat! As a kid I earned every penny I got and I am sure that many of us here had it just the same.
