Shame about the slight fit issue. Nothing you can't sort though. I like the idea of plastic pedestals being supplied. I've seen brass ones in use. The advantage of metal pedestals is their weight. Makes the model more stable.

Agree. Also choosing to repair the seams in section. Very cunning.Getting rid of that seam was definitely worth the effort.
Thanks Jim, 5 more sections to do!Getting rid of that seam was definitely worth the effort.
Trying to avoid destroying the moulded handrails, honestAgree. Also choosing to repair the seams in section. Very cunning.
Thanks Ian, planning to put the decks before fitting to the hull.coming along nicely. Good job on that seam.
I too would paint the decks first. the hull and Super-structures then all the fiddly (really) bits.

WELL Bob matey that tiny crack on the left ? fill it well youre doin well my freind but this is just me i think i would have painted the decks before i built it as it would be a lot easyier but you carry on as for me its a treat to see you buildin sir an love yourMore progress on sub assemblies
This is the rear superstructure, the fit is not the best and you can see a gap around the edge. Now should I leave or fill??
Built two of the secondary battery

oh go on mick as after my hornet build i may go back into building r/c ships as ive seen a ship that i would like to build if i can get the plans an blew up to 1/72 scale to match my HMS NORFOLK an HMS TIGER so go on Mick be dareinNice build Bob, still not built a ship since I was a kid but keep getting tempted
Evening Jim, was thinking of using Deluxe materials filler, tend to use this. As you say easy to wipe off excess with Q tip. Yes, lots of minor parts. The plan is to prime almost everything together. So avoiding my usual mistake of forgetting stuff to do!!Coming on nicely Bob. Lots of little structures to build.
The gap on the left. I'd fill with a sliver of styrene, trim back neatly, a smear of filler if needed. Should work as you can sand easily as there is no detail to loose. The gap between the deck and the wall is harder because of the detail on the deck gets in the way. I'd probably leave that but you could mask the deck and use an acrylic filler so clean up could be done with a damp Q-tip.
Give it a go! Glad I did but be prepared lol. So different to armour, very different indeed!!Nice build Bob, still not built a ship since I was a kid but keep getting tempted
Must find a better way, fill, sand, prime, repeat. Then fill some more, sand, prime etc, etc lolThat was not a seam, it was a canyon... and what a great job you did getting rid of it.
Took me back to the early Airfix and Frog kits along with Merit where you had to fill in the canyon running down the spine....
For Q tip read cotton bud! No poking in the ear!!!!HI Bob matey glad to see you postin your build an yes them 5 inch guns look the bussiness am well done building them catapults looks a bit fiddley but you have mastered them well my freind an whats a Q TIP ?
