I have just decided to get back into plastic model making. Last time I was building plastic models, other than for Model Railways, must have been the best part of thirty years ago and I had a stash of unmade kits then. Now, after promising myself I would build everything I bought before I made another purchase I find myself looking at a pile of unmade kits and I have not had a sniff of the liquid-poly yet!

Is it the law or is it just a disease?

Ralph

Neither, Its an addiction. Either you can just say no and be strong. Or you can get it while you can and have something to fall back on.

I look at it as a pension plan. I have a half baked idea that I will take an early pension, become a sort of home going house husband. So a lot of my stash is saving up for a lot of rainy days.

Thats my excuse anyway.

Ralph, I made the same promise to myself as you did. Once I see something I like the look of, I worry that I'll forget about it, so buy it and "save it 'til I've finished this one". Never happens and there's a dozen boxes upstairs!

I've always managed to keep mine in single figures!

It can be done.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure this is a nasty, yet fun and nerdy disease.

Much Love,

funny that you say that my other half said the same thing, i even went to the dr about it and he said that once you have the disease there is no cure....lol

i have been told that is just a different strain from the tool box disease

but it is nice to known i am not the only one.

here is just a few, have loads more

It seems to just happen.... for me at least.

I have run out of room with my 1/48 and 1/32 stash so decided to hone my skill on 1/72. Now i seem to be building a stash of each scale lol.

I need to give up my job i think just so i have time to model hehe.

Jason if Sterling & the Euro crashed you could use all of those as currency.

The battle tank is worth a couple of loaves of bread. The DUK a couple or even 5 fishes.

lol......well if that is anything to go by Laurie then with the rest of my stash that is up in the attic and in cupboards i should be ok for years

Its all about the thrill of ownership - I know there are kits in my stash I will never probably build, but the fact that I own them is enough :)

Sadly still sitting in the shed, waiting for me to build my way through the plastic stash! It may take some time...

I still need to finally finish off the bloody land Rover! Planning to try to remember to go to Henley this year, although its clashing with Shoreham Airshow - completely forgot the last RMG meeting!

is that the Alien APC i see there in your stash Andrew, have been looking for one of those for the last 2 years

As a "non stash holder" an alarming thought has come to me. There are very probably more unbuilt kits in private hands than completed models.

you are probably right Steve, but another thought for you......what about the half built ones to, you known the ones we started but have never got round to finishing

All in all I would say my stash is about the same amount as my built kits. It looks big. As for unfinished kits I have one that is put in the box until the 30th of febuary, and another that gets a bit of time here and there. More a work in progress than put away.

Indeed it is along with a USS Sulaco above it, although after my mammoth Dropship build earlier this year (link in sig below), it might be a while before I return to the Aliens universe...
