Is this weird or what !?

I know what it is. It’s an RAF beret! Some smally trainee has had it nicked by a grizzled old fitter for being a cheeky little t**t and its been frisbeed across the crowd.

There used to be a UFO on my local Google maps. If you looked really close though, it turned out it was a pair of pliers some eejit had thrown at the camera!

Great topic as a teenager reading the Eric von whats his name books ,was God a astronaut, gold of the gods i think there was a couple more ,even today I think can't prove he's right but by the same token can't prove him wrong. Dave

Great time to be a kid wasn’t it….we also had Thor Heyerdahl sailing around the world in balsa wood boats…people going into space….it all seemed much more interesting than these days……

... I have a theory about that Tim...
.... I reckon it's because we,(the youngsters of that era),were so innocent in general, and when you saw something unusual/ groundbreaking happen,it was truly fantastical.... these days technology goes in leaps and bounds so rapidly that it's become, expected, and "the norm" ...
... Just my theory obviously ;)

Personally I think the world changed out of all recognition in my first thirty years…..and the last thirty just seem like more of the same. Even films and TV are just retreads of the same old thing with just a bit more technology thrown in…..
Scientifically nobody seems to be pushing the envelope and making large leaps in knowledge, just moving it on incrementally. The pursuit of knowledge for the pure joy of it seems to have disappeared. All research goes just as far as someone is willing to pay. Where are the risk takers…..

... Couldn't agree more...
..Rach and I were talking about this only a short while ago,and came to the conclusion that the recent industry has run out of ideas..
Therefore,we've given up on "The latest", Film/TV offerings ...
.... and gone down the You Tube/Old Satellite film channels, there's SO much of the early stuff right there..
.. it's surprising just how much of B&W '40s,50's...( and SOME even 20's,30's too!! ;) ) Is worth watching..and dare I say it, even better than most of the drivel produced these days..a LOT of which are just really "Remakes"...
... Sorry,rant over!!

i don’t think they’ve run out of ideas, I just think they are so risk adverse that they won’t make anything original in case they don’t make enough money from it. Popular Music is pretty much the same….endless lookylikeys coming off a production line…..and popular literature has gone pretty much the same way.

Risk managers have an outsized influence on all industry today. No assured profit= no budget. When I was a member of corp. staff decades ago, we enjoyed a generous budget for out-of-box experimentation until the 2000 teens when the risk mgrs. & bean counters joined forces to eliminate it.

We were so disappointed w/new Law & Order offerings on TV, we took a look at the originals. We can see now why there are L&O reruns 24/7. They are head & shoulders above new stuff.

Pretty much backs up my thoughts there Paul... Totally agree. :)

i don’t need be spoon fed that stuff Jakko, I can still just about think for myself ;)

Trouble is, I am no longer the market they aim at…..those in their twenties and thirties are the core demographic, and have only seen this stuff a few times so think it is still fairly original I suppose……in thirty years time they will think the same as us….

In my opinion the "Human" race is a horribly failed experiment, those who created and built our most fabulous technologies
and cultures, nations and societies have surrendered all it seems to those who do not make but take.
We have betrayed ourselves through cowardess and greed into a world were the so called powers that be have us
corralled into our convenient "identity group" cubicals, to be called upon at their pleasure to hate, kill and destroy any other group
that has earned their displeasure at any point in time.

Purposeful energy and food shortages are used to control and finally to reduce the unwashed masses.
Undeveloped countries who are yearning for modern conveniences and proper agricultural practices and fertilizers have basically
been relegated to the scrap bin of future history, especially in continental Africa, because of "Greeny" insanity. NO OIL FOR YOU!
Cold are ya?....need to cook your substandard "food"?.....burn dung!
Just this insane and ludicrous war in the Ukraine has crippled wheat and other grain production in the region with devastating
effects to be felt world wide, Especially in Western Europe....In Africa millions will starve out right.
This all because of the maniacal aspirations of one evil prick.

But then what else is new? just name any war and one can easily see that every one of them was unnecessary.
All have been caused by one brainwashed group who thought it perfectly fine to break someone elses stuff and kill
their people.

We are a pathetic and hopeless cause that will never even come close to the fantastic advances and peace of existence
enjoyed by those entities that flit about our skies and righteously mock our very existence.

Other than that, don't worry, be happy :upside:

As Eric Idle said “We’d better hope that there’s intelligent life somewhere out in space, because there’s bugger all down here on earth”….

Beam me up Scottie..... there's no intelligent life down here! :tongue-out3: :tongue-out2: :tears-of-joy:

I remember watching the first series of Star Trek. I gave up about half way through 'cos there was nothing new - it was all re-hashed stories from the Sci Fi of the 1930s and 40s. So there's nothing new in even the idea of risk adversity.
