ISU-122 Tank Destroyer........ Ogonek 1/30

Thread owner
Been using a hot melt gun for this bit

Motors glued into gutted mountings, mountings glued into hull so they engage with the gear boxes, wires run out the back of the hull

I've run a battery across it to make sure the motors run cos once I close up the hull I won't be able to get at them again

I've bodged a control box but I need a pair of pp3 batteries

I guess it's impossible not to fix the upper hull, so that you could maintain access to the motors and such?

Moi brane 'urts 🤣

So this thing has two motors.... Left track and right track...... The control box had sliding switches so each track had forward, stop and reverse...... So you could steer by stopping one track....... Powered by 6 x C cell batteries (6 x 1.5 volts = 9 volts)

When I got these Chinese motors on Amazon they came with a pack of on/off rocker switches and some pp3 battery connectors

So I took a plastic take away box and lid and cobbled together a control box...... I will only have stop and forward so if I have any wires wrong way round I've used a chokka block to make it easy to swop around

Originally I used a pp3 for each side..... So each motor had 9 volts..... Soon changed it to one pp3 cos the motors span so fast it would have been like a whippet across the carpet 🤣

Cos of how the wheels go on I can't test drive it til it's finished...... I'm now going to seal it up and paint it.... Any problems inside from now on will be unfixable

I've also come across a Russian phrase for bodging lol

And I've finished my book this afternoon...... The Martian by Andy Weir...... Better than the film..... All about a guy stranded on Mars..... Has to improvise and bodge to stay alive till he's rescued

Just call me the Artful Bodger 🤣
