I have gone 43 years with all my teeth and no fillings...I now have a severe toothache, brushing causes pain, cold is agony, hot okay-tried sensitive toothpaste to see if that helped but it has gradually got worse...looks like a trip to the dreaded dentist is in order... :( I hate the dentist.

Si:(

Mate never having toothache I don't know what your going through but I'm told it's as bad as giving birth and I can't comment on that either

All I will say is the dentist is the best option mate I hope you get it sorted buddy with the least amount of pain

Sorry to hear that Si, I'm with you in dreading visits to the butcher.... whoops dentist!

Good luck mate

I know what you are going thru i had most of mine out and now have partials my own fault as i had to many sweet things when i was younger but only my self to blame any i hope turns out ok for you.

Si going to the dentist is a breeze. Go in they really look after you.

Just raise your arm, he says, if there is a hint of pain. Wear these black specs sir they will ease the glare of the lights. Ear plugs for the noise of the drill. Just a dribble just let me wipe that away. Feel comfortable sir. All finished nothing to worry about was there sir.

Now just toddle along to the recuperation room where my secretary just needs your arm and a leg, whoops sorry I mean excessive payment.

I had a slightly loose sensitive front tooth. I hoped it would solve itself but after 6 weeks I went to the dentist. He fiddled around under the gum and said that it was 50/50 whether the tooth could be saved. He said I should have seen him earlier. Its 80% OK, but the motto is: "Pluck up the courage to make an appointment sooner rather than later."

Best wishes Si

All my teeth are my own I should know I payed a fortune for them

Ta guys, the pain has migrated up the side of face and into my top teeth... :(

Si...hurting and feeling sorry for myself.

Sounds good Si. For the dentist. A bonanza.

Sorry sorry Si. Actually you could have a virus which causes swelling which then impacts on the nerves. Does not sound like an abscess as cold things on average cool the pain hot things aggravate a decaying tooth. I should know I have had a good number of the things.

Does not really help at all Si except to take you mind off it for a little bit. Actually Si the dental procedures now are just great. Last time I near went to sleep. I did suggest he had a TV fitted on the ceiling. But as he said if the programme was funny it may turn out to be a disaster for a patient.

I hated dentists had a bad phobia with them partly from when I was a kid, started going to one few years ago only to find I had a diffency with my teeth that had never been picked up , 2years later and im only 42 and 3 operations later I have 2 teeth left I ruddy hate it but was beyond treatment, and was dentists felt when was younger as they never detected it, I still hate the ruddy dentist thu

Hi Si I can sympathize with you had a toothache for a fortnight now which is getting worse but I will never go to the dentist again (had a bad experience about 30 years ago and he wanted to book me back in to have the rest of them removed ( as he said I had gum desease and they would all fall out anyway)) well that was 30 years ago and I still have all the other teeth I had then. Wish you all the best but a team of wild horses will never get me to the dentist again.

Dosed up on painkillers and cleaning (gently, but regular) the tooth area with sensitive toothpaste-to seal it and also get any bits that may get stuck.

Si... :(

The bit I hate most is the bill after. Ouch.

Hope it goes well Si.

Is there a chemists open near you Si? If so, get some oil of cloves - there's nothing better to soothe toothache ....except many many drinks!
