Well I was hopping to say this is my finest aircraft I've built but I can't ! I finally work out a method for shallow panel lines and get the weathering how I want it and not because I have to weather in a certain place to cover up a mistake and the decals ruin it , I did all the right things , gloss clear , decal solution before and after and they still silvered , I've spent the morning trying to get it look better but it's not good

However I do think this is my finest paint job I have ever done so excuse the awfull decals and look at the paint work lol View attachment 87061

Looks great to me Al, decals don't look too bad at all. I'd be happy if I could do a aircraft half as good...well done mate.

I think that looks really nice Alan. Considering you are a hairy stick man, the quality of the finish is outstanding!

Decals are often a lottery, sometimes great, sometimes a pain - but I can't really see any silvering.

Cheers guys the photos do cover the decal silvering and I've decided to get aftermarket decals for my other Italieri kits from now on but I'm glad you like it and 1/24 Stuka will benefit from the technics I tried on this one

It looks really good overall, Alan - I especially like the sharp canopy framing and the subtle weathering - but I feel your pain regarding the silvering. A friend gave me a useful tip, which was to apply decals (particularly the small stencils which are invariably the ones that silver) onto a patch of wet Future/Klear. Don't dab them, but allow the Future to dry and as it does it levels out and acts like a decal solvent, drawing the decal onto the model surface and eliminating silvering. Once you give the model a final flat or gloss coat, the little Klear patches disappear. It works really well.

The lower part is magnificent with this subtle weathering. The upper camouflage looks very good and the canopy is spot on!!

I have been ten minute observing your model, and it shows to me, that I have do some mistakes on mine , it brings me one idea, and a thing I have try to copy as well

Is a great build Alan, don't be so hard with yourself.

thanks mate I'm only glad to help , so what mistakes have you made are they in the build itself or painting ?

If it's painting don't forget this is an Italieri kit and there not the most reliable of sources for paint schemes

If it's in the build then let me know as I will be building my 1/24 scale so and I don't want to get anything wrong

I glued the dive brake (both) open, and forget to paint the white and black lines.....anyway it doesn't annoys me so much I will don't touch

Ah get ya it's an easy mistake to make and I would have done the same if they weren't decals

I always do free hand on camo then square it off when weathering

Alan I love it looks great, my favourite scheme on this aircraft, now I am tempted , I managed to resist the Revell 1/32 one a few months ago but things are stirring again now. well done.

Looks great Alan.Mikes method of putting decals onto wet Klear works well.Thats what I do especially if I'm building a modern jet with loads of small stencils.
