I will start the ball rolling on this one.

My vision with this build is to try get some of you that have seen Andy's great RC boat builds and thought "I'd love to have ago at that". Well here is that kick in the rear to get you started.

I does not have to be a Radio controlled boat, it could as well be a static model.

I would also like to say that I imagine that they will not be trumpeter of Tamiya kits but a Wood or glass fibre kit.

Yes that do cost a bit more but like all things, where there is a will there's a way...

This SIG should have been ages ago .. I've got a scratch 44inch crab boat sitting on a shelf waiting to be weathered ...

Don't suppose I can bribe you with alcohol to look the other way for six months eh Ian??

LOL Colin. That would be a great idea but I feel that it is taking it just a bit close to the line.

I have a 1m Slo-mo hydro in the shed that would be a good one. If it was not 80% built...

I do however have a tube with six or eight plane drawings in for some others. The one that 'floats my boat' most is a 63' whale back torpedo boat...I just might have it doubled up so it comes up to around 2 meter. I also have some for a Baby bootleg which again would look nice at around 1.5m

I did have an offer for a 4m long hull for HMS Hood.... But a, would never find a place for it. b, would never be able to sneak it past the door watch. c, i would need a boat trailer to move it.... One of the things to be taken into account with this sort of thing is where to keep it!

This is actually a great idea for a build as it makes us as modellers think a bit more outside the box. Get away from plastic and glue and dig into completely different materials. This came about during the build of the Ben Ain, when I realised I needed to do something better than the fibre glass moulding supplied with the kit for the ship's boats. Looking around for those pieces that were needed to add detail was all part of the great enjoyment I had in building this model, from tin foil for the canvas cover to electrical shrink wrap for the leather oar protectors.

Perhaps a bit of inspiration may be had from looking at Chapter Fifteen of the Ben Ain build here:

So just had a look and its actually a 63ft RAF rescue launch drawn by John Pritchard. I just happen to know that this hull was also used for a torpedo boat.... :/

Would a full scratch built ship fit as i am waiting for a 1:1 1/ 250 plan for a titanic this would mostly be of wood but completly scratch built size 1m 4cm .

Have had this project in the planning for some two years now, as some of you may remember from earlier postings. No real drawings exist other than in I book I secured on ebay. There are lots of photos on the internet, so it will be a combination of the basic drawings from the book corrected as per the photos available. It will be a 1:80 static wooden plank on frame construction scratch build. Only problem I have is that I may not be able to finish it by the end of the year is this a problem?

The project is the Steam Yacht Scotia used for the 1902-04 Scottish Antarctic Expedition. Comments Welcome.
