Though I finished them a couple of days ago, I only just took pictures of the Jagdtigers I’ve been painting for a friend. First the one from Takom, with Porsche suspension and Zimmerit:

I’ve not done any weathering at all on this one, the idea being it’s on the testing grounds.

And the “production” one with Henschel suspension and no Zimmerit:

The camouflage deliberately goes over the tools and spare track links, but the weathering here is limited to the suspension as well because a lot of these Jagdtigers saw very limited combat before being lost. (That, and I didn’t feel like doing more painting on it ;) )

Very nice, Jakko. I like them both, but the camouflaged one might just creep in first.

Thanks :)

I kind of prefer it too, even if it didn’t really come out as I had in mind. I kind of screwed up the darker wash I used to shade the model. I used thinned-down Army Painter Soft Tone over the dark yellow, but Strong Tone (also thinned) over the green and brown. However, I made the mistake of finishing the first wash before applying the second, so there are some hard edges where the Soft Tone had already dried and the Strong Tone didn’t want to blend into it. What I should have done was mix up washes of both of them and apply them next to each other before they dried.

Both are very nice but I prefer the second. Probably the camo and the weathering gives it the edge.

I think they both look great. I'm sure your friend will be very happy with them.

Thanks for the compliments :) He’s just mailed me he will be dropping by later this morning, so I suppose I’ll find out then if he also likes them in the flesh (I already mailed him the photos I also posted above).

Thanks once more :) He collected them this morning, and was indeed happy with how they look, he felt they were very well-painted, in fact. IMHO, even though I’m hardly the world’s best painter, I could have done better if they had not been completely assembled yet when he gave them to me, but hey, I’m happy enough with them and he liked them, so all’s well.

Thought I’d share the photo he mailed me earlier today:

Apparently, it’s a shell case made in June 1915 so he polished it for its birthday (as he put it) and decided to photograph one of the Jagdtigers in it :)
