Hi there fellow modellers :) it's been a year since I was last on here (posting a finished pic of my last build, a packard victoria) and now again I'm going for another classic vintage car...The stylish jaguar ss100. My kit is an old matchbox model & like my last packard victoria it's 1:32 scale.

I love these old kits which are from the 50's, 60's or 70's. If feel as though they have been left abandoned for all these years & someone needs to use them for what they where made for! So folk like me (& you) come along & give them the build, paint & love they need :)


I'm going to paint it up with more of a stylish classic look (as in the pic above of the real jaguar). That white body with red leather interior really gets me! ;)

Thanks tommy1drop :) hoping it all goes well...white paint jobs are often dangerous lol (dirty fingers and all that). I have a few planned changes too (parts I may need to make myself) ;)

I have another old matchbox on my stash, that I'm doing some "modifications" to create a Steampunk vehicle :)

Matchbox did a nice MG TF in the same scale. You can still get Matchbox kits if you troll ebay, but they are becoming pretty scarce unmade. Here is one if you fancy paying the shipping.

The past few I've bought are off eBay. .and at a farely cheap price!

Looking good so far. White bodywork is a nice choice and the red spoked wheels really stand out.

That's me done the interior, all in red. Things where going clean & well but after popping the body & doors on to see how it's looking I've got a few little dirty marks on it :( typical. I'll have a careful try at tidying them up or little light spray back over them.


The body looks not bad considering. I found when gloss varnishing the body with spray I was getting a few dust hairs sticking to it. Wouldn't be a problem with most other colours (like military models) but they show up so much on white. Managed to tease them off & away with a pin point

The next step I made was deciding that the convertible roof hood that came with the kit covered too much of the back of the interior. I wanted it to look more like the hood of the real jaguar in my pic at the start of my posts. So I made one myself. It was as simple as cutting a U shaped piece of thin craft foam at the right measurements, then a piece of thin card cut a little bit bigger. I then glued the 2 together and then cut a small bit of plastic bag & glued it & wrapped it round the U shaped foam/card. Finally giving it a spray with a red purple colour. It works great, fits perfectly & looks the part when attached to back body :)
