Hi all
Completed this lovely little kit. Shown as a plane from No14 Squadron, Royal New Zealand Air Force.

I am going to build this kit again, without any restrictions, as the second part of this GB. It won't be straight away but I'll post pictures here when it is complete and a comparison can be made.

That looks great Jim, especially considering you used the kit paint. Just shows what can be done! Looking forward to seeing what you can do without the GB restrictions.

Very nicely finished Jim considering what you had to use :smiling3:.

Hi Neil
I mixed no 11 with no 56 (another metallic in the set) - ratio 2:1. Diluted it a lot and added a drop of washing up liquid. Working quickly I painted one area at a time. What you see is 6 or 7 coats. The grey plastic helped.

The washing up liquid helps the very watery paint to spread evenly over the surface. It reduces surface tension so the paint doesn't bead up so much. I saw the idea on YouTube somewhere.

I thought of trying that when I found I couldn't thin the paint as much as I'd wanted, wish I had now having seen your results.

Well done Jim. I have watched from afar but enjoyed your tenacity to get this starter kit looking as good as it does. Good luck with round 2

Thanks guys
I'm looking forward to round 2. I have ordered a kit, an Eduard pe set and some canopy masks.

What an amazing result! The metallic finish really works, so bravo for your skill and patience.

Evening Jim,
I’m gobsmacked:astonished:.....that is awesome, a very nice result indeed!
You must be one happy bunny:cool:

Missed the final reveal Jim, great result sir. :thumb2:

Love the kiwi markings and neat trick with the washing liquid.:smiling:

You'd never have thought it was brush painted Jim, nice tip about the washing up liquid.
Looks a great plane .:thumb2:
