Well i'm a little humbled there's so many people watching this....no pressure then eh :)

@ Tony ... the asteroid is mentioned in a couple of episodes and a lot more detail in the first book (infinity welcomes careful drivers)

@ Laurie ... no toothbrushes here but a few other make-shift items being used .. :)

@ Ole ... You can't have too much of the Dwarf mate ... don't be such a gimboid :) :) :)

So then .. started laying down the detail again, using kiddies foam sheets as theyre thin and flexible, easy to cut and cost a tenth of balsa of the same thickness, for thinner panneling i'll be using plain old card.

Got the bottom done, thats all im doing to it as it'll not be seen in full, there's limited (if any) pictures on the web showing this in any detail so i'll leave it a this.

Got the rear thruster rings sorted, its an old wooden embroidery hoop that ive disassembled then drilled and threaded wire for strength, i fitted plastic pipe over the wire for the look i want.

Its this stuff Dave .. bought from the cheapo shops ... comes in A5 (20 sheets) and A4 (10 sheets)

Superglue doesnt bother it, it sticks with Pva/epoxy/contact as well

Cellulose and acrylic rattle can spray paints dont affect it.

Its so versatile it's a godsend to scratch building to be honest

I'm thinking I could use that to create buildings - just as Ron does with his pizza bases. Thanks Colin.

Its not as stiff as pizza bases Dave, but it would make up into a building shape quite easily, probably more suited to 1:72 scale though , you can etch it to a certain extent with a scalpel too so brick work wouldn't be a problem

You're right Col. I think it would need to be stiffened to use as walls etc. except on smaller structures but as facings (such as on Ron's dock scene) it looks very useable. Cheap too!

Few more update piccies to show the extra detailing thats going on, and there's quite a lot to do to get it looking right as to how i picture it in my head.

Foam, card, boggly eyes, electrical components, drawing pins and bits of wire slapped on.

It helps to see where it needs more detailing and the paint layers help to stiffen and coat the card and foam even more ready for washes and weathering.

Thanks guys,

Bit more progress....

Got a bit more done on the asteroid strike, adding some texture to the large "rock" and adding some smaller asteroids that have embedded themselves in the hull also.

I think the line by kryten goes"well spin my nipple nuts and send me to alaska" it's looking A1 so far.
