Harder and Steenbeck Ultra 2024
Just got one these airbrushes that are primarily designed for newcomers to airbrushing.
It actually came as part of a bundle that I mainly bought for the included mediums and accessories
So after stripping it down and giving it a clean (which it didn't really need) thought I would try it out.
It has a few good features to help those unfamiliar with airbrushing which i'll try to describe here.
Firstly the trigger cannot be pulled back for paint before first pressing down for air, should stop any big splats
Then comes the main aid, a collar that can be rotated to restrict the amount of paint flow
It has settings for Primer, Basecoat and then three others marked I, II and III, for detailed work I assume.
There is one other that allows full movement rearwards and I did also notice the collar can be removed completely.
Comes with a 0.45 needle which can if required be changed along with the nozzle and air cap for something finer.
The nozzle is self centering so no need for removal by spanner and makes for easy cleaning too
The air cap has slots so a brush can be inserted to clean off the needle tip to ease any tip dry issues
It cannot be removed in use though presumably so that the needle tip cannot be left exposed and accidentally damaged.
The push on cup takes a goodly amount of paint, they do make smaller sizesif required
If left removed a small hollow in the body would allow for perhaps five drops of paint to be used.
This airbrush puts out a nice conical spray pattern and the collar does exactly what it was designed to do, a very clever idea.,
Saying all this it won't be staying though, I already have more than enough airbrushes with interchangeable parts.
Just the job for a newcomer or for that matter anyone really, a very nice good quality airbrush.
