Only ever having built kits of boats from airfix in my youthm I am now wondering about some of the other makers.

Are there brands I should avoid like the plauge others I should go after.

For exemple, HMS Hood or Bismark. both of these are well represented in the plastic kit market, is there muxh to choose from between the different makes. Sticking to the same scale (1/350 or there abouts)?

You know how to open a can of worms!

My advice will probably be rebuked by most of my brethren here but here goes. off the top of my head the worst manufactures of "Pass the bucket of filler" manufacturers goes something like this -

1. AMT/ERTLE. Models designed by blind people in a dark room with huge fingers using hammers.

2. Anything Airfix pre 2008. Kits that show the real British Bulldog spirit!

3. Everything Russian. Designed and manufacured in distillerys by crazy Ivans using AK's

Tamiya 1/350 Bismark here is a link of the tamiya kit of the bismarck in 350 kit if you are in the market for that one. im currently working on her and the fit and finish is is pretty good. but i will stress to get the photo etch kit to make it a model ship, not a toy. it realy is worth the money.
