This figure faithfully represents a “franco” knight from the first half of the XIII Century during the fourth Crusade with a characteristic helmet with a flat skull piece and bulb mask.

The Hospitaller Monks during that period wore black with a white cross.

The Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Order of Hospitallers or simply Hospitallers, was at the beginning a group of men attached to a hospital in Jerusalem that was founded by Blessed Gerard around 1023.

The Hospitallers and the Knights Templar, became the most powerful Christian groups during the crusades.

I tried to give him a worn, sunbleeched and battle hardened look.

The figure had the option to have the bulb mask on or off, as you can see I choose the first option. I discovered that it was quite hard to give him a face expression without the help of the rest of his face.

So I did my best to make him look alive with only the eyes.

The scrates on his helmet are made with paint only. I did a experiment to see if I could fool the eye.

The figure is a metal figure, scale 1:18.

Hi Tommy. Are you familiar with the phrase 'Gob smacked'! That is one work of art.

Just out of interest, do you happen to have a Knight Templar as well? I would imagine they could look spectacular together.

And yes, I got a Knight Templar or more correct I have two. One Knight Templar and one Sergeant Templar, both still in their boxes.

That make sense now when you mention it

It the first time for me to be on the front page as an article and I see that the text I wrote is pressed together so it is hard to read it properly (the scale of the figure is in there).

But I forgot about the maker.

It is a metal figure, scale is 1/18 and sculpted by Andera Jula/Pagaso Models.

These figures are rather expensive (around 100 euro) so I would only recommend it to those who are a little more experienced in figure painting

I was thinking the same when I did the figure. It must have been a very brutal kind of warfare, up close and hacking each other up with axes and swords.
