Looking through the kits on offer, seems to be very few 'softies' about - found about 3 different cargo trucks, but nothing much smaller (one kit of a 'captured' German kubelwagon) surely they had softies - yes, could get a 'Lend Lease Studebaker' but that seems like 'cheating'.

Morn Gerry,

There are quite a few kits of Soviet softskins out there. It depends on what type you are looking for. Lend/Lease gave the Soviets quite a few including tanks. Here's a quick list of what I found in about 10 minutes. First Russian built,

Gaz 67B from Tamiya. Kit MM121 or 35021
Zvezda GAZ M1, kit 3634
BM-13 Katyusha, various makers, ie. Hobby Boss, Italeri etc.
ZIS-5 trucks, Various makers
ZIS-6 trucks, various makers

Lend/Lease vehicles

Bantam 40 BRC from Miniart, kit 35048 or 35212
Ford GPA from Tamiya, kit 89771
M3 from Tamiya, kit 35363 or Zvezda kit 3519

You have already found the Studebaker 2 1/2 ton truck. If you go on scalemates you can type in the names of the vehicle or the kit # and check them out. HTHs

Allen,
Had seen the various lorries, (knew about the Studebaker from, strangely enough, a watch!) Wasn't sure what, if any, other small softskins were utilised, and if any models have been issued - guessing that the Germans cornered the market on using small softskins.

Hi Gerry,

What exactly are you looking for as far as small softskins? A jeep or a sedan or maybe a recon Vehicle....The factories that produced cars were converted into making tanks after Germany invaded Russia. Some still produced trucks for support. The Lend/Lease act helped them get back on their feet after the invasion in the beginning until their factories got up and running....

Looking at a couple of Soviet lorry kits - ICM and Hobbyboss, but not sure which to go with, or any setting for it to sit in - will have to have a think!

Plus I've found a M72 (750cc) Soviet outfit - deffo need to give some thought to a possible scenario

Got a couple on their way (M/C & a lorry) plus some figures - still tempted with one of those Aerosan things though!

Still got plenty of time before starting the Soviet themed project (still got the current one and the Hurricane one to do before starting that!) I'll let it sit on the back burner for a while, anyway
