After painting a few more details, gluing on the superstructure bits, applying a coat of matt varnish, and adding an M1A1 Abrams, the LCAC is now finished.

Happily, the decal carrier film disappeared with the matt varnish, rather than become more obvious as I had feared a bit. The Abrams isn’t glued down, because the tracks are tacky from the plastic used, and stay that way even through several coats of paint, so it sticks to the deck even though I only pressed it down :)

Hi Jakko
That is a great model. Very unusual subject. I really like the paint job. With it's cargo you realise just how huge these things are.

Thanks :) Maybe I’ll add a 1/150 scale figure or two on deck, to better show the size. They’re close enough to 1/144 that it doesn’t matter, and I’ve got two of them in the cockpit already.

Thanks all — “a bit different” is the entire reason I bought the kit, really :) I have a definite preference for things that aren’t quite the same old, same old.
