After cleaning out some old stuff this week, there was room for some new kits and a convenient desk lamp:
View attachment 326834
The lamp has 3 brightness settings, recharged will work up to 4 hours and the base is no bigger than 4 Tamiya bottles.
Although not intended as a replacement for the office lighting I have in the cave, this little one is just for the greyish days when the natural light just isn’t enough or at the end of day with the sun setting down and one needs some extra light on the cutting mat.:smiling4:

My backorder arrived at the LHS:

And seeing this one for a very nice price, I couldn’t let it stay there too:tongue-out::

Hi Monica, I’ll make a couple of photo’s tomorrow for you with normal day light as that gives a better look of the lamps effectiveness.
The twin 35W warm white fluorescent lights I have on now will distort the colour too….

I usually have a general tidy up and move a few boxes round to create more space!!

Fernando,
I have one of those lights - I use it to illuminate my computer keyboard - it works well, but it is a bit top heavy, and it doesn't take much to knock it over! After several falls, it no longer stays open by itself ( now wedged with a piece of card ). I've never really timed how long it lasts, but it's pretty good - If mine packs up, I'll get another...
Dave

Fernando, nice haul Especially the Intrepid! I served on her in '72 & '73 with VA 45
(A 4-E) at that time we were part of an anti sub group operating in the north Atlantic.
Thanks for the memories, Rick H.

Had a couple of close calls with it falling too, another incentive to work more carefully.:tongue-out3:

Thanks Rick, I’ve always had a crazy idea of building her like her current state of being a museum ship.:upside:
This kit has a general air-wing of Scooters, Spads, Crusaders, Sea-sprites and Stoofs with roofs.
It doesn’t look all that complicated to build and possibly there are some 1/350th S2’s around, maybe you can build her like she was when you served on her?:smiling:

Anyway here are the pics promised to Monica, photographed going from low to high, with the sun setting down:

A word of advice though, best to use these lamps as additional lighting for on the spot work and have enough ambient lighting available, it’s not good for the eyes having one well-lit place in an otherwise dark room.
A rule of thumb is 10:3:1 in light level proportions, with 10 being the work area, 3 the immediate surroundings and 1 the periphery.
John has these in the store too, although not in stock now….

on your work, area, and if to bright as you said,it burns your eyes out, a warm soft light ,is kind to the eyes,:smiling:

Weathering liner pencils, never tried them so will give them a go,
Mr Color metallic's - have used the solid colours both with hairy stick and hissy stick - with reasonable success - so giving these a go as well.
Mig weathering and the above all to finish off my Bergetiger (P).
Thinners to try with some Hataka paints - have read on another forum that this is the best for thinning them to use with the hissy stick. Cement 'co I am running out - doesn't help when you leave the top loose!!!! :flushed::flushed:

If you don’t find any friend for a battle...let me know Ian :tongue-out3:

My No. 3 Grandson is away at University. Last night his father dropped off yet more of the lad's kits for me to make for his return in the summer.

He wants them for his shelf in his dormitory room. He's given strict instructions for which one to build first.
Here is the latest batch.....:dizzy:

This is the one he wants building first. It's a monster!
