Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2019)

Hi all

So no kits for Christmas but I do have plenty in the stash and in any case it wasn't a model free Christmas asI did get the below from my family.

The book is about the battle against the U-Boat Wolf Packs (about which I know very little) and specifically the Western Approaches Tactical Unit (about which I know nothing). The paints speak for themselves.

Hi these came today part of my Xmas present but from John's shop, great service as usual.
So a bit more experimenting with different shades of grey for the Stug.

Pete.

Oddball, one of my faves. I have a pilot figure I've been saving to model Oddball when I do a planned WWII US med. tank company next year. PaulE

As we all use a computer of some sort to post our builds etc, and some of use use editing programs like Photoshop etc. We also find our PC's start to get a bit long in the tooth, and we replace them.
In the past I have normally built my own PC and to my own spec - but this year being a bit flush in the bank acount department, I decided I was going to buy a shop built item...

And here is the machine itself all 200 pounds worth....
But after de-rigging the old guy and plugging in keyboard/mouse and monitor ready to install the dreaded Win 10, I fired it up and - no graphics....
So not deterred I called the eBuyer customer service people, and after a lengthy call it was decided to return the PC for repair (change graphics card).
This was duly done and as promised my PC was returned to me within the week - WOW!!!!
I should have known better when looking at the box it was returned in...

There was actually movement inside the box - no not a soft cuddly puppy, or the scantilly clad young lady ready to jump out and ..... it was the pc itself that was so poorly packed it had bounced all the way from wherever to my home.
So the machine was unpacked....

And this is what I was met with.....
I of course contacted the eBuyer customer care people to be met with not only the fact that the machine could not be returned because it was damaged, but that it had not been repaired because it was damaged and there was no RAM in the machine...

.... this of course is visible below the red/black/blue and yellow wires...
Now I became very suspicious at this point, and upon browsing the net I came across not one but four + forums regarding this company and their decidely bad habits.
I have been in touch with Trading Standards regarding eBuyer, I have recieved advice from Trading Standards and have emailed eBuyer again, and also the managing director of eBuyer and still await a reply.
Be aware of who and what you are buying from, this case is ongoing, I can of course repair the damage, change the graphics card, add the O/S and use the PC - but why should I.

That's a poor show!

I have to counter by saying that I've used ebuyer for many years, back to when they were based near me, and have always had good levels of service. They are clearly not meeting that here though!

That's outrageous Mike. How was it shipped?
Pete
Originally it came with the correct box/foam inserts as you normally get. When i sent it back it was in the original box and wrapped with about four layers of bubble wrap plus plenty of tape.

Andy,
I have used them on numerous occasions, but that was for parts, this being the first large item and I must say that I was shocked, not that the graphics did not work, but at the return and also the attitude when I demanded a full refund, not only that I was lied to. I cannot quote other peoples dealings with eBuyer, but some of the dirty tricks carried out I am sure are not from the top of the tree and we will have to see what the MD has to say. But I will keep you all advised.
