These arrived today from the shop, cheers John.

I just lost patience with my usual Vallejo acrylic’s on my last build so thought I would give these a go.
I may be forking out for a few more if they are any good.

Geoff.

I used those paints and the result was nice: thinned with its own thinner, easy to spray, give a smooth and a semi matt finish; they just smell a little so mask and/or ventilated space is warmly recommended.

Thanks for the info Andrea :thumb2:

I’m fortunate enough to have a respirator mask and a spray booth extractor fan so it seemed pointless struggling on with Acrylics

My neighbour gave me this today. it was something her late husband started but sadly never finished. He had made a start on the chassis unfortunately it's not good. I will have to try and get it all apart and start again but one set of springs is broken so I will have to make some more.

I have never built anything from Accurate Armour with the exception of some tools. On first inspection it is going to need some work. One thing I do like though is the texture on the tarpaulin.

The quality of AA kits can vary a bit, by my reckoning depending on which day of the week your particular one was cast on … The only full kit of theirs I’ve ever built was the Strv 103 tank, and some parts were excellent but others had to be replaced by scratchbuilt ones because of mould misalignments and things like that. Same with a couple of the more extensive conversion sets of theirs I’ve used. But if anybody can whip this into shape, I suspect you’re among them :)

How lucky you are to have a local, good bookshop.
A bookstore that was voted the best in the country at one point, even. That doesn’t mean they’ve got a good (or even any real) assortment of books about military vehicles, but it pays to browse the historical section from time to time :)

As I’m used to building aircraft with lots going off in the cockpit the Sopwith Camel is definitely a little sparse on the inside so I’ve got a few bits to bling it up a bit. I’ve got a new instrument panel, new seat with cushions and some new machine guns.

Love those Vickers guns in particular!

Does anyone remember these (posted by Gary MacKenzie):

I asked back then if anyone on the forum could print these if I bought the STL files. My luck was in as Neil Merryweather stepped up to the plate and offered to help. After much correspondence from me asking daft questions, Neil finally printed one of each type - after re-scaling them to 1/56 for me. Good man.

They arrived yesterday and I have to say I'm much impressed. Here's some of the parts for the Jorden version before cleaning up:

I've tried to show the level of detail - with limited success due to my poor camera skills:

Here are some of the parts for the Colony version after clean-up:

Those pale lines on the piece in the middle are actually a cut out grille.

Here's one of the render pictures from the original files:

Sorry for the duplicate pic. Is anyone else having trouble uploading pictures? They're taking ages to copy and now it won't allow me to upload selected pictures.

Anyway. Colourful beasties ain't they. I seriously doubt whether I'll add all the bolt on bits as shown (These are from one of the 'Alien' films. I managed to watch the first bit of the original film - up until the point where the crew had just seen the alien kill one of them, at which point they decided to all split up and go hunting the thing single handed through the dim corridors of the ship!! Worse than the old B-movies where everyone wanders around the haunted castle on their own!) and since I ordered the less detailed prints, I have solid windows.

I may decide to cut these out and see if I can cobble together some interior stuff. We'll see.

Once again, my thanks to Neil for doing such a terrific job.

Hi Dave, those do look rather nice all painted up......I've been visualizing them in 1-87 scale with OD green paint and stars on them.....Hmmmmm.

Might be worth asking Neil if he could re-scale them for you? I'm in two minds whether to add some sort of military scheme or leave them as civilian vehicles.

As I am sure a wise man once said.....you can never have too many books, although my wife might disagree!

So whilst researching my Yak-3 and the air war on the Eastern Front - because I basically know nothing - I came across this for only £10 and from a proper book retailer not a certain online giant retailer....who was incidentally 30% more expensive.

It's not a big book but it will at least give me a high level overview....plus it has lots of pictures.....albeit it does apparently contain some questionable facts.....but you've got to start somewhere....and it is only £10.

Are you going to use the zombies to fight the US troops?
No mate, I've got some modern PMC guys I can use, I'll try and scratch some bits together for either an Italeri Landie or Takom Mitsubishi or maybe even both?!
