Sounds like a good project. Be interesting to see how you get on, a comparison of the two kits would show how much work you have to do. The old Airfix Defiant kit was a shocker with shape and the riveter went mad.\ said:I plan on making the new kit, and using that as a pattern to help make the old one, with any spares left over, and a couple of magazine articles. I also have an old Spitfire fuselage which I will take the nose off to improve the old kit
The new kit has two schemes with almost complete decal sheets for each, so I can make the day or night fighter; I just have to find a roundel or two
I don't suppose the old kit can be made as good as the new one, but I'd like to do it for my own interest.
It's a big kit in 1/6 scale and will be of a filer fest but not to bad ive just finished trimming it up and test fitting so a paint scheme has to be found and then away we go , I do need to build a base for it\ said:dose look nice Alan,i have been looking at the aliens, for some time as well,
cannot wait to see this one started,![]()
Cheers moni I'll give that a go\ said:wont to know a good trick with the filler on these,s guys, ?
well wont i do too save money on filler is use super glue, and when still wet drop in baking power, and just
build up the lays until happy with the join,
blues and silver and ever shade of them in between,![]()
Ive been after these for a while now. Could you tell me (Either by reply or private mail) what these are called so I can search them on this evilbay please?\ said:a real must for any modeler !!
dont know why i did not get years ago,$6.oo Aud of evilbay for 30 of them,
just pop a kabab stick in the end and away you go,
no more black, gray or what ever colored fingers,![]()
You can also use micro balloons, this makes a totally sandable filler - great with epoxy too!\ said:wont to know a good trick with the filler on these,s guys, ?

I bought a cake decorating turntable off Amazon - you'll notice a few folks have drilled holes in turntables to stick these kinds of things into! Wooden skewers fit into crocodile clips nicely, which allows you to make different length croc-clip stalks!!\ said:Thanks Monica
That particular one doesnt ship to the UK but you have given me the search term and Ive found one that does. This is perfect. At the moment Im using bulldog clips which work fine, but I need to stick them in plastacine to get them to stand up when drying. Im in the process of building a workstation/paint rack so I can get some rods and incorperate these into the design. Whats also very handy is the little square plastic bits that I can paint and colour code. The models I get come mixed, so for example, Im painting 10 High Elf Wword masters at the moment but they have 7 different models (Although ther command is 3) so I need 5 different colours so I know which is which.
Anyway, as usual, I waffle.
Thank you Monica
I just did some measurements and with the Tiger ........... This one is going to be too big for the dio ........ Never mind, I'll build it some day for something else. But it was a bargain\ said:do like the look of that Peter,![]()
This was a sort of Plan B anyway ........... I'll stick with what I had in mind for Plan A for the dio.\ said:I just did some measurements and with the Tiger ...........
