Postie delivered these this morning, courtesy of LSA models, e-bay and a deal from another forum :)

Got this one of e-bay for £16.99 delivered, always fancied it as it has a full interior

These two came from LSA models, now no longer trading, managed to get them for a bargain:)

Got one of these for Xmas but really liked what was in the box ,so I got myself a 2nd one, really nice looking kit and the box is full to the brim.

You guys must have much better charity shops in the UK than we do over here, I've never found a single plastic kit in one (though they're great if you're looking for a chipped ceramic-rabbit candleholder). Do you ever find pieces missing, Peter?

I've only ever found one kit in a uk charity shop.It was one of the old Airfix historical figures. The shop assistant was most annoyed when after examining it I said I didn't want it because the head was missing!.

I was in a charity shop in Aldershot yesterday and saw a brand new Revell 1/72 Spad XIII biplane for £1.50. It's not my thing so I passed on buying it. I've heard elsewhere that local model clubs have arrangements with charity shops to reserve this kind of thing in return for a donation. They don't come round often but my best scores have been a Hasegawa 1/72 Tomcat for £3.50 and a 1/144 A380 for £2.50.

Another place to try is TK Maxx, they sometimes have kits at discount prices and I once scored some Hornby locomotives at half price.

I do find pieces missing i once got a airfix puma with a dozen pieces missing but after a call to airfix all was settled.

I love charity shops and car boot sales for unwanted and unloved model kits paints tools etc and have had some really good finds in the past I love a good rummage!!! Although the kits are normally not "high end" brands it's great fun trying to score a bargin and almost as much fun as building the kits that I do find.My other half as gone to Kendal for the weekend and they have lots of charity shops up there and before she went I told her not to return without a model from a charity shop if she is successful and manages to return I will post what she manages to find I wait her return with baited breath but won't get to excited without my guidence

A friendly courier just dropped this off:

Airfix have outdone themselves with this new tooling kit. The detail on this is exquisite, see picture below of the Dornier, I've seen a build thread on the new tool on here but didn't realise it was this detailed. The star shaped things that make up part of the engine (below the wheels on the sprue) have really intricate lines that'll look amazing with a basic pin wash to bring that out. Also, all large surfaces have a texture to them, you can just make it out on the picture below. I'm sure the majority of pros on here would sand that out to get a more authentic smooth finish, but this means the acrylic paints in this gift set will have something to stick to for those new to the hobby!! Well played Airfix!

The Paul Defiant too is fantastic. If anyone has built the New Tool 1/72 Hurricane with the wheels down, the detail in the wheel well was fantastic, but incredibly fiddly with about 20 pieces that didn't quite fit. No one would notice it, but I know where the gap is in mine and it annoys me! On this model, that wheel well is a one-piece construction you put between the top and bottom wing sections, much easier!

The only sink marks are on the inside of the fuselage/wings, no where else like the inside of wing doors or flaps. You're unlikely to need to sand for a good fit. It came out yesterday, it's so new the paints it comes with haven't separated yet!! My first impressions are amazing, I now fear getting back to that 1/24 Spit I've started! I've not built this yet, but if you have any interest starting out in modelling, then

BUY THIS KIT.

I was considering buying this kit the other day when taking a look, it appears you really like the look of it, so I think this'll be one for me to take a crack at also sometime in the near future :D :P ;)
