I took myself into downtown Osaka today and visited a couple of model shops - M's Plus, Hobbyland and Joshin. The first two were "proper" privately owned model shops and the third was a chain shop but still an experience to behold. I bought the tools and Sea King kits in the first shop. I found a very nice fine tipped scriber and a another scriber but with a different tip.
I saw the 1/144 Sea King kits and had to buy them, they are a cheaper and easier solution to a 202 Sqn diorama I have had in mind for a long time - it means I can sell off the 1/48 Hasegawa version that will likely not get built. They were going for about £25 over here.


Hasegawa kits galore in all of the shops but in Joshin they have an entire floor dedicated to Tamiya models from all of their catalogue - and no, I didn't see their new Mosquito. Hobbyland had a glass cabinet with various models on display some of which I have added - the Caen diorama was very impressive.


I've heard that Tamiya's lemon scented glue is supposed to be highly regarded as an adhesive - is this true?

ive used that glue and it is not great on plastic models. it gums up and crackles

Academy have or had a lot of the old Tamiya moulds Alan.


The Panther is a bit of a dog compared to modern kits, but it still looks the part & would be good for a summer/autumn setting in Russia or Italy.

I think with your skill leave you will get on fine with the seperate link tracks,


Just make up a little jig,that's what i do, ;)

These ones just clip together, there the dragon magic ones so they should not be too bad , however this is me and it's not uncommon for me to make the simplest job look very hard :D

The pay-off of course are no wing or fuselage seams to fill and sand. There is a small mold seam that can be removed with a swipe of a sanding sponge. But even that has been done so it does not interfere with the detail. Just look at how the mold seam stops at the detail in this pic. Astonishing well thought out touch.

The Tamiya FB IV. When it comes out in August will have to be really good to match this. I will get one of those too!!!!!!!

Wow!! Pretty Mossie;)


Looks a big kit....seems to be bigger than the 1/24 Typhoon....??!?
 
Just a heads up, Eduard have an overtrees sale in July. Loads of PE and kits in the brief look I had. Of course the problem with them is shipping costs but saw F6F 5/3 for 6 or 7 euros which may make it worth buying a few.

well i do think you should be fine,and just if needed keep some super glue on hand, ;)
