Lee Drennen’s Hobby Farm & Garden

Alan. My radishes did fair well this year I think the seed was to old and I planted to early. Most years the last frost is in mid April this year the last frost was about the first of May

Our frosts are the same Lee. So i cover my seed drills with mini cloches made out of old coke/vimto/dr pepper bottles cut length ways. These still let the water get to the seeds but more importantly, keep the air frosts off the young seedlings. So this year i've had a bumper cropof radishes. My beetroot are coming on just as well too.

John. Thanks she done that not me

Alan. My Radishes went to seed this year for some reason I think the seed was old would love to see pics of your garden

Hi Lee, My mom did the same as you and your wife.........she went to the old homestead in northern Minnesota and dug up Iris bulbs from her mom's old place on Swan Lake. Trucked 'em all the way back to Salem Oregon and planted them outside her bedroom window so she could look out and see them when they were blooming. The things we do to remember our fore-bearers is remarkable, but a good lesson in family values for us when we were growing up.

That's awesome Lee......I've been painting window trim on the house. I think you're having more fun....

It hasn't been all bad Lee. I spent a little time at my "Loading Bench" and managed to put up 400 rounds of .22 cal. K- Hornet ammunition for my favorite varmint rifle. Just not in the modeling mood presently. Been dabbling with a German field hospital in a burned out building. Still waiting on most of the figs. as I need nurses and Drs. to staff it. Looking forward to your 1/25th scale tractor /trailer rigs.

Always great to see photos of the Farm Lee .
Looks an ildilic place to live.

Lovely garden Lee.
I like the smell of tomato bushes...did a photoshoot for our client Yeo's in a tomato farm once one early morning. You can't get ripe tomatoes with the five star ends near the stalk as they dry and curl so it had to be rigged. The sun dries the dew very quickly so that had to be rigged too but I could never forget the fresh smell of the leaves.
I've got a concrete garden so no farming...only potted plants.
Pickles...we like ours sweet here...papayas, mango, ambras, nut meg and onions.

Cheers,
Richard

Lee, good to see those Hens are earning their keep......would be awful if they were just hanging around looking for their next meal and a stimulus check! :tongue-out3: All in all, it looks like you have the veggie part covered. Now lets talk about some Angus beef........a nice fresh cut Ribeye steak would go really well with all those greens and eggs!

John. I’m sorry I missed replying to your comment. Yes I love it here I want to live out the rest of my days here on my small farm it’s so peaceful always a great place to get your thoughts together

Rick. Thanks for the complement those chickens know there’s no unemployment check here you work or you leave. I had cattle years ago I will post them some day here. With my arthritis I’m afraid I couldn’t get out of a bad situation with one of them if it happened maybe a few goats next year
